From Wendy Laurel… This editorial shoot was inspired by my love of the florals and the very feminine. I was inspired to create a wedding dress using flowers and Della from Dellables Flowers was able to fulfill my dream. I envisioned a very feminine shoot and thought about the rarity of a two bride wedding shown.
I was also inspired by my sister, who recently graduated from college and came out as a gay woman. She has always been very feminine as have the women she has dated! She has also always been a big fan of wedding blogs, but when she came out she knew she needed to find images that represented the ideal wedding she was looking for – but it has been hard for her to find. For my sister, I was inspired to show the two dress lesbian wedding in a very feminine way.
Della from Dellables Florals handmade a flower wedding gown in bright spring colors. She used the crinoline skirt from under an old wedding dress and glued flowers and flower petals over it and a separate white bustier. We paired the floral gown with Claire Pettibone wedding gowns that were also very feminine and lovely from her Romantique collection. Dellables made the floral crowns and the florals for the table. The hand drawn wedding invitations, the table design and cake and cookies were are all inspired by the feminine and spring feel of the dresses and florals. Opihi Love’s talent for design pulled all the elements together in a gorgeous way.
