Boho Glam Summer Wedding at Ojai Valley Inn

This is one ridiculously cool couple. With their inherent chic style and Lady Liberty Events leading the way as designer and coordinator, and a team of vendors including The Butter End Cakery, La Tavola and Brown Paper Design, the finished results are nothing short of spectacular. Braedon Photography and Redmond Digital Media captured every second and this gallery is just begging for some solid swooning action. Don’t say I didn’t warn you.

From Lady Liberty EventsI have had the pleasure of getting to know Justine for a couple years now because we spent some serious time together while I was planning her twin sister Sidonie’s wedding! I was so excited when Justine called me to say it was her turn…. And so the adventure of Justine and Ben began!

Knowing that Justine and Ben both wanted to make a weekend out of their celebration, and after Justine saw pictures of the Ojai Valley Inn she knew this would be the spot. During our first visit, they were sold… the oak tree, where they would ultimately tie the knot, was perfection.

Being that Justine and Ben both ooze of style, we knew that the entire day would have to emanate these fashionistas, creating a design that reflected them as a couple. Together we came up with an overall vibe that we called “Boho Rocker Glam.”

Since the ceremony was outside, we opted to go with a natural and organic ambiance using mainly whites and greens, which resulted in a storybook setting. We installed a custom tree swing, which was engraved with “you make my heart swing,” and accented with foliage and petite blooms. Set under the lush oak tree, light wood pews strewn with fresh greenery and cross-back chairs provided an organic yet elegant vibe. Custom tambourines made with the couples monogram embossed in gold with dangling lace & satin ribbons, were set on the chairs for guests to make some noise when they said I do. Glass cylinders with pillar candles set on tree bark rounds created the aisle leading up to chuppah. Oh, the chuppah…. This was a masterpiece. Using Ben’s family tallis, Brown Paper Design worked their magic and built a romantic white floral and foliage chuppah that was nothing short of breathtaking. The perfect spot for this bride and groom to say I do.

Justine, wearing Inbal Dror (one of my favorite dresses to date), looked ravishing. Her all-white floral and foliage cascading bouquet (she had wanted an updated version of Princess Diana’s iconic bouquet) was picture perfect and almost as gorgeous as the bride. She gave her bridesmaids a palette of colors for them to select dresses from and the end result was flawless. The shades of pink, purple, taupe, and grey worked wonderfully together. Dainty flower crowns and wispy bouquets of eucalyptus, garden roses and king protea, perfected the look. The Groom, wearing a custom Borelli dark navy tuxedo, looked as sharp as can be standing alongside the handsome groomsmen wearing black tuxedos. The bride and groom with their wedding party was the ultimate combination of boho glam.

Guests made their way to the cocktail hour, set on the Hacienda terrace, where they nibbled on tasty bites, sipped on specialty cocktails and Kilos of caviar were devoured in minutes. In the foyer, a lush living pepper tree that we had custom built for the room was used to display the escort cards – one of my favorite details of this wedding! Guests circled the tree looking for their names, which were hand calligraphed onto fresh Camellia leaves. This was a true labor of love, which paid off due to the incredible reactions coming from the guests. The guest book consisted of small birch bark rounds that guests signed and placed into apothecary jars for Justine and Ben to display in their house for years to come.

As we opened the doors to the reception area you could see the look of awe in peoples eyes. The entire room was simply glowing. The room was set with a combination of reclaimed wood kings tables and round tables draped with blush rosette linens. Each table glistened with a stunning collection of silver and gold mercury votives, along with exposed pillar and taper candles set on crystal candlesticks. The place settings boasted gold and silver patterned china that complimented each other with cream raw linen napkins. Deep purple and gold trim dinner menus and fresh lavender bunches topped each plate and gold plexi glass name cards designated each seat. A trio of vintage glasses consisting of champagne coupes, wine glasses and purple tinted water goblets completed each setting, The florals, in hues of lush ripe berries, arranged in horticulture style gatherings, provided romantic and lush centerpieces that filled the room.

Overhead, your eyes were drawn to the massive chandeliers draped with an abundance of garden roses, passion vines, pepper berry and blooms in the same berry tones. The head table, a 24 foot reclaimed wood kings table, was swimming in florals and candles. The fireplace, dripping with candlelight and dressed with a lavish garland of blooms, provided a stunning backdrop for their table.

The stage, flanked with lush pepper berry trees, was set with a hanging fellini light backdrop and potted fern and xanadee plants shaped our stage façade. A seamless white dance floor, boasting the couples monogram, with disco balls overhead delivered the ultimate centerpiece for the room. Justine and Ben made their grand entrance and headed straight to the dance floor. Chanteuse “Morganne” performed Crimson and Clover and the bride and groom started the evening off dancing their first time as husband and wife. Morganne sang jazz standards and some French favorites while guests enjoyed dinner. Following dinner, Masta and his band took the stage for the remainder of the evening and kept the dance floor packed all night.

On either side of the stage, reclaimed wood panels with hanging marquee lights displaying the words “SIPS” poured specialty cocktails all evening. As an ode to Ben’s heritage, an antique buffet console was set with various vessels overflowing with Persian sweets and silver samovars filled with black tea. Lounge vignettes were staged with a combination of sexy velvet chairs and benches mixed with vintage leather sofas, which exuded a stylish blend of both masculine and feminine pieces.

Justine had been working for weeks on a very special surprise for Ben… ready to get her groom blushing, we cleared the dance floor and dimmed the lights. With a chair placed front and center, we guided Ben to his spot and simply told him it was time for the garter toss. The Black Key’s “Howling for You” began and Justine (who had done a wardrobe change) along with two very sexy gals, strutted their way onto the dance floor to perform a sultry burlesque dance for her groom. With feather fans in hand, synchronized booty pops and shoulder shimmies, Justine most definitely had Ben howling for her. The dance led into Ben removing her garter, which in turn resulted in one very unique and entertaining garter toss. This was such a fun and exciting part of the evening, and Justine nailed it!

Their stunning five tier naked cake, draped with champagne grapes, figs, tangerines and lush blooms, was set on an antique dresser underneath a hanging installment of fresh foliage wrapped Edison bulbs. Surrounded by an assortment of petite sweets and plush garland the display was a feast for your eyes. As guests departed, a display of petite burger boxes stamped with the couples monogram, held the cutest, most creative, and tastiest cheeseburger macarons. Everyone knows that Justine and Ben love their burgers, so this was the perfect detail to end the night!

If anyone is looking for a Boho – Rocker – Glam style wedding then I think it’s safe to say that Justine and Ben’s wedding day was the epitome of just that. It was so fun being able to combine such different styles to create an overall design that worked so well together.
