From the beautiful Bride… The entire day is this big beautiful memory, from the early morning hours setting the chair pads out (what only wedding planners do on their own wedding day…I wasn’t forced, I wanted to.), seeing the reception set up, seeing Austin at the end of the aisle waiting for me, to dancing the night away with friends and family… it was this whimsical glorious day, that piece by piece, put together this perfect celebration.

My family has been graciously given the use of a lake lot on Hayden Lake every summer since my childhood from a dear couple that over the years have become good friends. Their house property overlooks the same lake and lot. They were so generous to offer their home property as a wedding location for me, before I was ever even engaged! It gave a perfect feel of Idaho and northwest beauty, but still elegant and clean.

I have always loved the idea of an outside reception, but it wasn’t until we were offered such a beautiful location that I decided to have an outdoor ceremony as well. From the big tree that stood tall over us while we took our vows, to the pool reflecting all the lights while we danced the night away, it all came together as the most perfect formal outdoor setting for us.

My parents and their families are from Alabama/the South, which is where I met Austin. So I have always wanted to incorporate southern charm, as it’s been a huge part of my life, but still get married in my hometown in north Idaho. I have always loved the south, and that’s also where Austin is from. So from the beginning, we wanted the wedding to be a beautiful mixture of the northwest with southern traditional. We had huckleberry lemonade (for the northwest) and Sweet Tea (for the south). I made a heart shaped picture made from maps from my home town, Coeur d’Alene, and Austin’s- Birmingham.

I wanted everything to be elegant and tasteful, but still have a hint of an organic feel. My florist, Eden, did a wonderful job at accomplishing that.

We originally had rented a tent. But just a couple of days before the wedding, the tent plan fell through due to a sizing issue on the property. We scrambled for ideas as to what to do next. The weather looked like it would hold out for the weekend so we decided to go with no tent at all. My wedding designer and her team saved the weekend, and worked overtime to design and build a way for four gorgeous sparkling chandeliers to hang above the reception table area. It turned out so much better than the tent, and it opened up the views much more too!
