As a classic ballroom bride myself, this beauty photographed by Abby Jiu had my heart from the get-go. Starting with a fit-for-a-princess Vera Wang gown and ending with a perfectly striped gold and ivory cake, there’s no shortage of pretty moments planned by Anne Book Signature Style, and I’d happily spend my days swooning every last bit. From The Couple…Overall feel was formal and Washington, but still current and chic. Being from big cities like New York and Chicago we wanted clean lines, glass, mirrors and modern touches that were layered and mixed with tapers, candle shades and classic fabrics like blush silk and stripes. The classic-modern mix really pulled together all the special cities we have called home and made it feel like us.
The groom, Brent, was baptized in the National Cathedral by the same priest who married them.
In the summer of 2006 Brent and Alexis found themselves sitting next to each other in Georgetown University’s summer class of Introduction to Psychology. Alexis was a rising high school senior and Brent was a rising college sophomore. The relationship started with Brent placing his foot firmly in his mouth by leaning over to Alexis and making fun of how many high school students were spending their summer in school. This just so happened to be moments before Alexis introduced herself as a high school student. Needless to say, they did not stay in touch once the summer ended. Alexis then returned to Georgetown University as a full-time student a year later and they reconnected.
Bride’s favorite wedding detail was the beautiful mix of chic linens with various table arrangements, which included a black wavy pattern linen, a custom blush taffeta linen with a mirror table top, and a gold coin linen atop a white linen. All of the tables were beautifully accented with candlelight, which allowed the room to have a romantic flicker of light throughout, and matched the floating candles surrounding the elevated dance floor.
Groom’s favorite wedding detail was the boutonnière for the groom and groomsman that was a white rose, with the stem wrapped in a light blush and the leaves custom spray painted a light gold to match the entire color theme of the event. The colors were soft enough to not stand out, but instead add a unique twist to the classic tuxedo look. I received countless compliments.
