From the beautiful Bride… Our love story began in elementary school. Although, we never actually talked back then because Jasper was two years older than me and “cooler”, so he says. We then got reintroduced in University by a mutual friend. At this time, we were both seeing someone else and so nothing happened until two years later when we happened to be both single at the same time. We took our time to get to know each other before we became “official” which I’m glad we did because there’s nothing more exciting than waiting for the guy to ask you to be his girlfriend. As high school as it sounds, I love the feeling of butterflies in my stomach leading to this point.

Our first official year of being in a relationship was nothing but bliss! We had so much fun getting to know each other and experiencing new things together. In 2011, after two years of dating, Jasper was diagnosed with Non-Hodgkin’s Lymphoma (NHL). NHL is a type of blood cancer that originates in the lymphatic system. Jasper was only 29 when diagnosed and I just turned 27. We were at that age when life was supposed to be simple and mostly consisted of grown up parties and exciting adventures. Little did we expect to be hit with this big, terrifying news. I will never forget that year in our life. Not because of the numerous visits to the hospital, or the countless medication, chemo and radiation treatments that Jasper had to endure, or the needles that constantly poked his body, but because it was a year that made our relationship with each other and with God so much stronger. Jasper was/is the strongest person I know and he taught me the true meaning of hope and faith. I got the words hope and faith tattooed on my right wrist afterwards.

Year 2012 was another big year for us. Jasper turned 30 and he was in complete remission. Two big reasons to celebrate and throw a huge bash! On December 25th, 2012, Jasper popped the question and asked me to marry him while we were opening our Christmas presents! It was a big year indeed! A lot to be thankful for and celebrate. In 2013, the wedding planning began. By February, we had already secured our wedding venue and we chose the beautiful and elegant Liberty Grand in downtown Toronto. We fell in love with the Renaissance room that had massive, arched bay windows. We knew this was the venue for us and thought it was perfect for the colour theme we had in mind, which was blush and gold. The next thing on the list was my wedding dress! I went with Lea Ann Belter and she created a beautiful custom gown with French lace on the top and silk organza for the bottom. My Maid of Honour wore a blush and gold dress from David’s Bridal by Vera Wang and my bridesmaids wore different styles of blush chiffon dresses. One of my favorite pieces at the wedding was our seating chart. My Maid of Honour and I shopped on Queen West downtown to find the perfect vintage frame. We found a cute, little antique store that had a vintage picture frame. It was perfect just the way it was, we didn’t even have to spray paint it or touch it up. Our wedding cake was made by The Wedding Cake Shoppe and we were so thrilled to see the final product! It was the most beautiful cake we’ve ever seen, and almost too pretty to eat! The first two layers were Dulce De Leche and the third and fourth layers were Ferrero Roche! The macaroons were such a lovely touch to the cake!

2014 came by fast and next thing I know, we’re married! After a year of planning, the big day had finally arrived and we couldn’t have done it without the help of amazing friends and family. We worked with a lot of great vendors and our photographer was especially amazing. I have to say that Mango Studios is truly talented, and I fall in love with their work over and over again. We are so happy that we chose them to capture our special day. We can look back at our wedding pictures years from now, and have no regrets! Our wedding was definitely an emotional one, lots of laughter and lots of tears. Jasper and I have been through so much together and every day we are so thankful to have each other. Next thing on our agenda….ITALY for our honeymoon!
