From the beautiful Bride… Our wedding day was everything we dreamed of and then some. It was a misty, warm fall day in Charleston, SC surrounded by our closest friends and family. When we started planning, our goal was to create a day that represented our relationship and all the wonderful memories we shared in our 5 years of dating. We wanted it to be authentic and real to who we are and our families.

It was important to us to incorporate sentimental items throughout the day. The majority of my wedding day jewelry was borrowed, including a bracelet from both of our mothers and our 4 grandmothers. I was honored to carry a family bible from 1949, that has been carried by every married woman on Jordan’s side of the family in their weddings. Our rings were carried in a wooden box made especially for us in Uganda, from where my god son/ring bearer was adopted.

Every detail was thought out to share our story with our friends and family. I’m a photographer and naturally a visual person so what better reason to create custom seating cards with each guests’ picture. All they had to do was find their face to find their seat! At each table sat a wine bottle as part of the centerpiece. Throughout our engagement, Jordan and I drank each of these bottles to celebrate a special occasion. We saved them all and had labels made explaining each of these celebrations. As guests left the reception, we wanted to share one of our favorite travel moments together. We are huge coffee drinkers and visited a wonderful coffee plantation on our trip to Costa Rica in 2012. Everyone received a coffee cup with a small bag of our favorite beans from the plantation.

During planning, everything felt like a DIY project because every aspect had such a personal touch. My favorite project was the custom video booth I built with my dad. Everyone has a photo booth or guest book to sign, but I wanted something different – a digital guest book with videos from guests. I purchased an app designed to take multiple videos and my dad and I designed a booth around that! It was so much fun watching the videos on our honeymoon.

Throughout the day, there were so many amazing moments. Jordan’s favorites included our first look and seeing me, his beautiful bride (in his words) for the first time, and when he learned of the surprise honeymoon stop at Pebble Beach to golf! Besides actually marrying Jordan, my favorite moments included seeing Jordan for the first time in his fancy tux he designed and opening the custom Mrs. G necklace he had made in his handwriting. I will always hold dear the more private moments of our prayer circle over our marriage before we walked down the aisle and the private vows we shared with champagne after our ceremony.

Not everything went as planned, but it all happened just the way it was meant to. We had a beautiful, heartfelt ceremony, full of love followed by a night of dancing with our favorite people in the world. I wish we could get married every year and celebrate just like we did September 27, 2014!
