As I began researching music options for my wedding, I felt a bit lost. After a while, a lot of the options start to sound the same, that is, until I came upon the band SALUT, whose style and approach is a breath of fresh air. SMP: Who is SALUT and why do you rock?
SALUT: SALUT is made up of 12 of the finest session musicians and exciting up and coming singers in London. The band produces their own original material which will be released throughout 2015, so watch out for that! The band has played for several big corporate clients including The BBC, Red Bull, Nestle, M&S, John Lewis, RBS & Lockheed Martin to name a few. We’ve been featured on such well known wedding blogs as Style Me Pretty and Rock My Wedding, and have been lucky to have played at some amazing weddings around the world. Highlights include playing at The Dorchester and The Gore in London, in beautiful chateaus in the South of France and fabulous venues in New York. SALUT rocks because they fuse copious amounts of groove with personality and originality!
SMP: What are some top points to consider before hiring a band?
SALUT:
1. Before hiring a band for your event I would advise to check all the obvious things, like their experience at similar events, have a look at their full repertoire and also check that their image fits with your style. Our vintage style gets complimented a lot by our clients and certainly stands us out from the crowd.
2. Make sure they can perform your first dance in the way that you want; we often make songs our own, so our clients have a unique first dance which none of their friends will have!
3. I guess every band is different, but when hiring SALUT we are often heavily involved with the whole day, providing music throughout the afternoon, the evening party session and the DJ. So, advicewise, I would say work with a band who you get on well with as they will be playing a big part in your day. We have been lucky to work with only lovely couples!
SMP: Can you tell us some all-time favorite dance songs that get everyone on the dance floor?
SALUT: We love to go wild with some of the biggest anthems ever released, we mash them up into original medleys, making sure the dance floor is always moving. Our favourite tunes to get the party rocking is our Prince and Earth Wind & Fire Medley, or when Bruno Mars’ “Treasure” meets Michael Jackson’s “Rock With You.” There’s not a quiet moment when SALUT are partying, so come join our party!
