Modern Yellow Toronto Wedding

Full of whimsical touches from start to finish (balloons and donuts, lemons and limes), this was one fun wedding. When a couple infuses their own spirit into every bit of their celebration like this one, it reminds me why I love weddings so much. A Brit & A Blonde captured every adorable moment and a smile will be plastered across my face for the rest of today as I squeeze every bit of joy out of this gallery.

From A Brit & A BlondeKatherine and Andrew are a ton of fun. They met in University while studying law out East. They got married in beautiful downtown Toronto. Their ceremony was held at Trinity College Chapel at the University of Toronto, followed by cocktails and reception at The Royal Conservatory of Music. A most rad venue. The bride played many piano recitals there as a child. And the couple are both big fans of music.

The decor was modern, with hints of vintage and whimsical. Adore all those pops of yellow. Lemons played a big role in the decor – Kat & Andrew enlisted the help of their wedding party to scour Toronto for as many lemons as they could muster. They joked during the speeches that there are literally no lemons left in the city that weekend. Guests sat at long banquet tables, encouraging conversation and mingling while they feasted on dinner. Lisa from Sweet Woodruff did a great job marrying all the decor elements with an eclectic mix of floral arrangements made of ranunculus, anemones and dahlias, dispersed among mercury candles, bell jars and accents of lemons. Wine crates and even more lemons decorated the reception tables, while guests browsed a display of framed old family photos nearby. Guests were asked to sign the back of postcards – that were designed by the couple. Palettera created beautiful custom name cards and the lovely invitations. Rebecca Chan and her team helped bring all the vision and details that the couple had been working on to life. The reception set up was picture perfect.

The amount of DIY was astounding! With the help of friends and family – these guys got super crafty and it looked fab. The groom’s parents helped create the marquee lights. Which looked gorgeous all lit up during the reception. Guests found their seats by the super creative piano-key inspired escort card display hung on an old window frame created by Palettera. We loved this – such a nice touch since it the reception took place at the Royal Conservatory of Music. The rustic table numbers were constructed by the groom’s family. The Mr. & Mrs signs, the chalk board signage, the table decor – all done with love and smiles from the couple and their friends and family.
