Southern Chic Mountainside Wedding

Beyond the breathtaking layer of fog gracing the mountainside, this soiree snapped up by Jillian Michelle Photography is bursting at the seams with pure pretty. Pretty in the form of a stunning Stella York dress, elegantly playful invites from Amanda Day Rose Paperie, and peach garden roses from Pink Petunia. But when it comes to the real beauty? The heart behind this day? You bet there’s a whole lotta that too.

From the beautiful Bride…Philip and I met on July 1, 2012 at Calvary Baptist Church while living in Winston Salem. I sat down next to him in the pew one Sunday and he introduced himself. He asked me out for coffee, but our first date actually up being a Dash baseball game. Philip and I dated for close to a year and a half before getting engaged in December 2013.

Our wedding really came down to trying to make the things we loved tie together to express that to our guests. We also both share a love for small mountain communities and had a desire to support small businesses as well as the local economy as much as we could in the process of planning the wedding. Those were driving factors. As far as the color schemes, there were a lot of colors that we talked about, but peach is my favorite summer fruit and I also happen to love the color. Peach was a warm color that blended well with natural tones such as burlap and ivory, which fit what I envisioned. We incorporated coffee beans and vanilla candles on the table because Philip and I enjoy coffee (of most any sort!) and he asked me to coffee when we first met. We served Southern cuisine because that reflects our roots – our guests enjoyed fried chicken, green beans, mashed potatoes, biscuits and sweet tea.
