When it came to picking a color palette, this Colorado bride took a “go bold or go home” approach. From Jessica of A Vintage Affair…Its like the sun knew it couldn’t compete with the radiance of this colorful glamorous bride. Despite the overcast skies, the day turned out perfect. The timeless romantic invitation with delicate gold foil on a pale pink cotton paper mixed with whimsey red calligraphy really set the tone. Guests were greeted with wine when they arrived at 90 acre farm before walking over to the lovely ceremony site. Liz, from Cori Cook Floral created gorgeous lush asymmetrical bouquets with gold flowing ribbons. The looks perfect with the bridesmaids blush and metallic dresses.
Bringing in a touch of Colorado the sparkling escort cards placed in aspen branches were paired perfectly with mountain scene table numbers. The guests were dancing all night long to music from Diamond Orchestra. The evening was the perfect combination of refined and relaxed. Brumley and Wells captured this lovely day on film. They approach small moments and details unlike anyone else which gives the photos such a defined artistic style.
From The Bride…When we began the design process, I told Jessica and Liz how much I love color. I wanted a bright and happy wedding that was playful, yet elegant. Crooked Willow Farms was the perfect backdrop and the design team delivered on the exact feel I imagined. Liz from Cori Cook Floral created the most amazing backdrop to the ceremony with shimmering gold fabric, a curtain of soft green eucalyptus, and a hanging floral centerpiece, all flanked by gold hurricane lanterns.
I wanted my wedding dress to show movement and not feel overwhelming, so I chose a fitted Sarah Seven gown. The gold lace felt classic and elegant, while the other design elements, such as the unique bodice and crystal belt, made it feel modern and unique. My something blue was a velvet cape that my grandmother made for my mom’s wedding. My something borrowed was an antique pendant that I pinned to my bouquet. My something old was a heart-shaped locket and my something new was a pair of gold spiral earrings that Ben gave me as a wedding gift.
The ceremony was my favorite part of the day. From start to finish, we were surrounded by the people we love most in this world and it felt so intimate and personalized. My dad walked me down the aisle where I saw Ben for the first time that day. I remember thinking how handsome he was and how confident he looked standing at the altar. Ben and I wrote the ceremony together, which was meant to be a true reflection of our relationship and who we want to become as a couple. We chose readings that reminded us of the importance of the decision we were about to make, while also highlighting the need to always stay connected and put each other first. At one point during the ceremony, I looked to my mom, who gave me a reassuring smile, and I thought how beautiful she was.
My brother, who has been a tremendous influence in my life, officiated, and my best friend since middle school, Megan, was our reader. Tim wore his Navy whites and Megan matched our colors in a gorgeous poppy red dress. My bridesmaids, who included long-time friends and my sister-in-law, Morgan, wore blush pink and beaded gowns. Ben’s groomsmen were a collection of friends from each stage of his life—from high school to grad school. The guys looked dapper in their gray suits with navy and brown accents. My nieces, Emma and Addie, were absolutely precious in their chiffon dresses and floral headbands. Instead of flowers, Addie held a balloon with a gold and pink paper tassel and Emma carried a “Here Comes the Bride” sign that I painted.
The second highlight from the day was our toasts. Following a difficult year, my family became closer than ever as we all rallied around my father, who faced health issues. He gave the most heartfelt speech honoring me and Ben among our family and friends. My maid and matron of honor, Juliette and Leslie, followed my dad with a hilarious toast that featured a “Guide to Dana,” which showed how well my friends know me. Ben’s brother, David, kept the laughs coming with a roast of Ben that touched upon Ben’s love of cars (and subsequent speeding tickets) and his use of hair products.
It was a perfect day for so many reasons, but mostly because Ben and I were able to celebrate our love and commitment among so many loved ones.
