Rustic DIY Wedding in Winnipeg

Personal touches are my absolute favorite thing at weddings. Combine those with my love of food and I’m the happiest wedding guest there. This rustic Winnipeg wedding not only had family style tacos but loved ones also contributed homemade cheesecakes. Simply Rosie Photography captured every delicious detail and you can fulfill your cravings for sweet love right this way.

From Academy Florist… Jewel and Connor are the kind of couple you want to do anything for. They were separated between two countries for much of their relationship and seeing those two become one was almost too much. A day filled with emotion and beauty. It was the most beautiful family wedding you’ve ever seen.

From the carefully woven bracelets to the perfect floral hair piece, Jewel was true to her name and looked stunning from head to toe. Her decor was a combined effort of gorgeous do-it-yourself projects. The seating chart, ceremony backdrop and sweet signage was all done by the bride and her sisters (many of which made up her bridal party)! Her blooms were a combination of garden roses, special fillers, foraged local greens and a few extra special touches. The centerpieces donned some locally grown crab apples as well as multiple varieties of foraged foliage.

The couple chose to have family style tacos as their reception meal, a trail mix bar, and carefully hung twinkle lights to set the mood for a family affair. The desserts were another combined effort by family and friends, all handmade by scratch.

Jewel and Connor are so in love and are finally together forever. A match made in heaven with the perfect compliment of a gorgeous wedding to set them off into their future.

From The Bride…My dress was David’s Bridal. However I bought the dress as a strapless and as you can see it is clearly not a strapless! I wanted to design the top of the dress, so when my mom and I found lace to match the dress, we brought the dress to ‘Anita Pulling Thread’ in Portage La Prairie where I explained to Anita what I wanted and she did not disappoint! She is a phenomenal seamstress!

Two of the bridesmaid’s dresses were from Dillards, two from Neiman Marcus, and four were custom-made to match the other dresses by a woman named Miriam Ramos. Two of the flower girl dresses were from Edens Boutique. My ring was from Dennis Jewelers. Connor designed the ring and brought his design to Dennis Jewelers in San Antonio to create it, it was my dream ring and I didn’t even pick it out or show him pictures!

The catering was from BMC Market, an authentic Mexican restaurant in Osborne. Connor and I went on a date there one time, and loved their tacos so much that we asked if they would consider catering for our wedding… they did! And the food was just fantastic! Cheesecakes were one of our best ideas. Connor and I chose five different flavors of cheesecake and distributed the creation of them to our friends and family.

Centerpieces, bouquets, boutonnieres, corsages were by Academy Florist, and they brightened up everything! I couldn’t have been happier with this choice! Our photographer was Simply Rosie Photography (my dear aunt is the best). Our photo booth was 3 Clicks Photo Booths (so many props, great quality pictures, so accommodating – we LOVED them)!

My hair was done by Annah Goody (A friend of mine who is a student at the Aveda institute & Academy Salon). My makeup was done by many of my bridesmaids and a friend of mine, who is with Mary Kay!
