From The Bride…Shortly after getting engaged we quickly decided that the only place we could get married was New York. Andrew is from a large Irish family that mainly resides in New York, New Jersey and Long Island. We are talking 55 first cousin big family! But Rachel being originally from Tiburon, CA wanted her dream wedding to have a California feel and a location that was on the water. They soon decided that Montauk had the relaxed California vibe combined with a great location easily accessible for all guests. And with Andrew’s love of surfing, ditch plains was just a perfect piece to the puzzle. After selecting Montauk Yacht Club as the ideal venue for our large wedding the nautical theme kind of found us. We wanted everything to have a very personalized feel – which carried over into writing our own ceremony from start to finish. Rachel even found the perfect illustrator in an Edible Brooklyn magazine that created our customized invitation.

We also wanted to try to keep things light and breezy the whole wedding weekend. The day of our wedding we started off with a morning yoga session followed by a guided hike later in the afternoon. The ceremony was walking distance from the cocktail reception and the dinner and dancing and everything was tented so that we could enjoy the views of the water all night long. Andrew left strongly about having a live band – we really wanted everyone to dance the night away. So Those Guys, having played Andrew’s brothers wedding as well, were a perfect fit. They have so much energy that it is contagious.
