From Tigs Macallen PhotographyGosh did it rain on Kat and Hamish’s wedding day. The heavens opened in joy and showered them with a strong and lavish amounts of approval. It made the day very adventurous and created a beautiful story. If the old saying is true about rain on your wedding day, then Kat and Hamish will have very good luck! The dark clouds and the freshness of the colours after the rain were so vivid. What lovely memories were made:)

From The Bride…Everybody wishes for a bright, sunny wedding day and we were no different! But the sky’s opened and drenched us in rain, yet in hindsight, we wouldn’t have had it any other way. The stormy grey skies created a magical landscape and made for a very memorable day!

It was important to us that our guests could relax and really have a good time. We wanted to have our ceremony and reception at the same venue and Aghadoe Estate, just out of Daylesford, was perfect. It is a beautifully restored homestead with stunning gardens, and as soon as we saw it we knew it would capture the rustic, elegant feel we were looking for.

We hired the property for the weekend so the bridal party could spend the night and we were able to have our guests back for a breakfast bbq the next day. The Novotel Creswick is just down the road and we organised a bus to get our guests to and from the venue.

My dress was from Mariana Hardwick. I was never set on a white dress and after seeing a beautiful metallic lace that was used in their Hardwick line I asked if a dress could be designed based around that. I loved the antique look of the gown and was so thrilled to have a style that was all my own!

To complement the antique feel of my dress I chose Samantha Wills deco style earrings and kept my flowers classic, with a cascading bouquet of white peonies, passionflower and green foliage. Petra from Pomp & Splendour did such a fabulous job. The bridesmaids wore elegant blue silk dresses that matched perfectly with boys navy suits and my oyster coloured dress.

One of the best things about the wedding preparations was visiting the flower markets at the crack of dawn the day before. My Mum and I had a ball filling our cart with stunning flowers in pastel shades and spent the day arranging flowers for the ceremony and reception, as well as the bridesmaids bouquets. It was a lot of work but definitely worth it.

During the ceremony rain began to pour down and we had to relocate to under the verandah halfway through our vows! The rain cleared just as we went to take our photos but I had to don a pair of bright red gumboots to make my way though the mud. It definitely wasn’t planned but Tigs and Matt made it such a fun shoot and we are so thrilled to have these special memories captured in such beautiful images.

It’s true what everyone says, the day absolutely flies, and we wish we could do it all again (rain included!) to spend another night tearing up the dance floor with all our friends and family.
