Classic De Seversky Mansion Wedding

I love that this couple waited a few months to start the planning—a few months to soak in the wonderful time that an engagement is. My fiancé and I did the same exact thing and I’m so glad we did. And this wedding right here? It’s proof that waiting to plan, doesn’t hurt the pretty one bit. This classic day has a simple, understated beauty that truly lets the love shine, and shine it does in this gorgeous gallery from Betsi Ewing Studio.

From the beautiful Bride…Rob and I met one night while we were out celebrating my sister’s birthday. We were introduced by mutual friends and though neither of us were looking for anything serious, we hit it off instantly and spent the entire night talking amongst ourselves in a crowded bar. From that point we went on to date for six years and on our sixth anniversary we went out to Sag Harbor for a little celebratory weekend. We had made plans to relax for a bit before dinner and when I walked out of the shower, Rob was fully dressed and down on one knee. It was so unexpected and magical. The entire weekend we felt like we were living a dream. Getting engaged is really such a wonderful time. The love and support you feel from friends and family cannot be described.

In order to maintain the magic we decided to postpone wedding planning for one month (which then turned into three) and I’m so glad that we did. To be able to embrace the love and not worry about wedding planning stress was perfect. Once a few months passed, we finally began thinking about what we wanted our wedding day to look and feel like. We immediately knew we wanted the day to feel romantic and classic and be one hundred percent reflective of who we are as a couple. We compiled a list of venues and visited De Seversky Mansion on the NYIT campus. This was our first and only venue tour. As soon as we drove up to the estate we knew it was where we were going to get married—it was perfect. Romantic, classic and intimate.

Our wedding day was everything we could have hoped for and more and my favorite part of the ceremony was when our officiant read the three things we loved most about each other. I can still remember standing there listening to the officiant reading what Rob said about me and thinking to myself it sounded exactly like what I had written about him.
