eat.sleep.wear’s Philadelphia Engagement Session

You know her as the voice behind eat.sleep.wear, but today Kimberly is gracing the pages of SMP as a glowing bride-to-be. Along with her handsome beau, she hit the streets of Philly for an engagement sesh with Alison Conklin, and the result is a pretty + playful nod to their upcoming destination nuptials. Let the wedding planning begin!

From Alison Conklin Photography… These are engagement photos of Kimberly and Blake. Kimberly is the force behind the very popular blog Eat Sleep Wear. Her and Blake live in LA, California but are from the Philadelphia area. For their engagement session we ran around the streets of Philly hitting some of their favorite spots. They held pineapples in their photos because they are getting married in Hawaii in May of 2015.

From the Bride-to-be… Philadelphia will always be a city near and dear to my heart. And the funny thing is that I would have never guessed how I would meet my fiancé. A born and raised Philly girl, I spent about 12 years living in the city and working multiple graphic design jobs before starting my fashion, beauty and lifestyle blog. It was a journey that took me to NYC to live my dreams in the fashion world. One of those jobs in Philadelphia was for an agency where I would meet a guy named Blake. We exchanged a few emails about 5 years ago and the only connection between us were our mutual best friends.

Fast forward to 2012 when our mutual best friends got married in Philadelphia. I was living in NYC, Blake was living in San Diego. On a day filled with such love and joy for beautiful friend, I found a connection with my long lost acquaintance from my Philly days. A few months after the wedding, I invited Blake on a whim to come spend New Years Eve with me in NYC. Not expecting him to say yes at all. “Sure! When should I fly out?”

After many flights shared between NYC and San Diego, I found myself moving across the country to be with this man I loved so much. 9 months later… we were engaged

Philadelphia means so much to us both. I knew I wanted to come back for our engagement session. I also knew that no one else but Alison Conklin would shoot those photos. Her eye for catching beautiful light, and laughter between two people is something that has resonated with me for quite some time. I quickly called Alison and begged her to be part of our wedding!

I wanted some special places to my time in Philadelphia to be incorporated into the shoot. We started in Old City which boasted old cobble stone streets, unique doorways, and old world charm. I spent so much time in the green parks when I lived in the city so we made a stop at Washington Square Park to sit on the benches. Our final stop was at some of my favorite tile mosaics in the city. Philly based artist Isaiah Zagar creates mosaic murals all over the city and it makes the streets truly sparkle. It was the perfect backdrop to get silly with a bunch of pineapples. Maybe my pineapple are hinting to the location of my wedding. Can you guess?!

We had the best day running through memories of our past, but also, creating new ones in the city we love so much.
