The details that make up this sunny Bald Head Island wedding day from Abby Grace are nothing short of chic Southern charm at it’s best. Fluffy peony bouquets sculpted by the Bride’s very own Grandmother, furry friends adorned with baby’s breath wreaths, glittered Kate Spade heels and a custom Woodford Reserve blend signifying the joining of two families. From Abby Grace…Meg & William met at the Gala in White on Bald Head Island in 2008, on the very same steps of the club that hosted their wedding reception. They both grew up vacationing on the island with their families, so BHI was the obvious choice for their big day. The wedding was a chic, sophisticated affair with coral and light pink themes + peonies throughout, a perfect representation of the elegant Southern charm of the island.
The ceremony itself took place in the shade of an oak tree, at the base of BHI’s lighthouse, Old Baldy. Meg & William’s black lab puppies, Scout & Lilly, served as their flower girl + ring bearer, complete with baby’s breath wreaths ’round their necks.
The bride’s grandmother crafted the beautiful bridal bouquet, the bouquet for the maid of honor, and the wreaths for the pups. All of the additional florals were supplied by Courtney Stone of Kickstand Events- she did an incredible job bringing Meg’s vision to life!
A favorite highlight of the day was the wedding favor: together with their families, Meg & William selected two barrels of Woodford Reserve, a high-end Kentucky bourbon, to be combined into one custom blend for their wedding, representing their two families coming together as one. The guests danced from dusk til starlight under the airy white canopy with an incredible live band providing the tunes, and Meg + William made their departure that night in a Rolls Royce golf cart. The island is cut off from usual cars, so everyone on the island drives golf carts!
