Brooklyn Winery seems like a dream wedding location; a little pocket of easy elegance in the middle of a bustling city. And for a Bride and Groom that wanted a wedding centered around relaxed fun – boom. I think this wedding is just what the doctor ordered. From The Bride…We met at a dive bar in NYC. Stephen was with some friends, and Genevieve was with a friend sitting at the end of the bar. Stephen, who was originally standing, eventually sat down and started inching his way over as seats opened up. Genevieve had definitely noticed him but was trying very hard to ignore him. When Genevieve’s friend (a guy friend from college she ran into, used to date one of her friends) went to the bathroom, Stephen swooned in. Guy friend ended up saying goodbye, leaving us alone, Stephen’s friends also left…the rest is history!
Our wedding theme was relaxed and fun. Once we decided on a the location, the ideas and pieces came together slowly as went through the motions…I did not have a defined idea of how it should all finally look, but I did not feel the need to stick to tradition.
My friend did my invitations, we had loads of fun finding the right look and feel. I loved our entire wedding and having all our friends and family in the same space was amazing. The dress was one thing I spent more money on…could not find anything I liked at all so I had to up my budget. We did save a lot of money on the invitations, my friend did a nice discount.
Herbs, garden roses and others were in my wedding bouquet, I really wanted a natural romantic feel to them. I love peonies but they weren’t too in season and sometimes don’t hold up well.
The only thing I would have done differently is maybe eaten more cake, it was soo good! Chocolate on chocolate!!
My only advice is to have fun! And don’t sweat the small stuff!
