Blush & Blossoms Bridal Shower

Let’s talk about a talented group of friends and family for a minute, shall we?  The type of friends and family that throw their planner bestie a bridal shower that is literally overflowing with pretty.  Think soft, romantic hues, yummy treats (hello, mac ‘n’ cheese station) and a “Blush & Blossoms” theme that is all kinds of awesome.  See every fabulous moment captured by Heidi Lau Photography in the full gallery.

From the Bride… As event planning is my job, relinquishing control to my bridesmaids and mother to plan my shower was no easy feat. I had dreamt about planning my pink bridal shower just as much as I have dreamt about the wedding. My girls know how I do my events and they definitely took some pointers and included some of my signature details.

When I got the invitation, all I knew was that the shower was taglined “Blush & Blossoms.” When I walked in, the room was filled with blush details and the floral arrangements were breathtaking.

The shower was held at my parents’ home where they transformed the living room into an all pink dining room with blush linens, blush chiavari chairs and perfectly pink centerpieces featuring floating flowers. Each plate setting was adorned with a matching napkin, a decorative gold brooch and custom stationery.

Guests were greeted with my all-time favorite cocktail – Kir Royale – which were dressed up with floral straws and floral straw flags. The drink was nicknamed the “Flower Baum” as a play on my last name.

The guests were then invited to a beautiful buffet spread featuring mini canapes, a chips and dips display, baked salmon, baked mac & cheese and an array of desserts. The lunch was catered by Encore Food with Elegance and my impressive bridal party baked and styled all the desserts!

Midway through lunch, I was greeted by a surprise video message from my fiance, who presented me with the amazing floral crown I got to wear for the duration of the shower. I started to see where the Blossoms portion of the shower was coming into play.

Once guests were full, I was surprised by my dear friend and florist extraordinaire Becky from Blush & Bloom who was going to teach the group how to arrange florals. Oh, this was the perfect activity for a floral lover like myself. And of course, very in theme.

The class was a huge hit and after all was said and done, each guest left with a custom “Mel” cookie. They were delicious!

As someone who has planned 100 showers, this one was for the books. My mom and friends did the most excellent job and exceeded my shower dreams. Can’t believe the wedding is in May!
