Bubble Wedding Inspiration

Today's slice of pretty from Melissa Kruse and Diana Tsao Events is nothing short of complete, utter fun. With bubbles as the muse, how could it not be? Toss in one stunning Galia Lahav dress from Bridal Reflections, florals full of whimsy from L'Oasis Floral Designs and this shoot is floating with pretty left and right. Assisted by Angela Newton Roy, this gallery is a minty, bubbly dream.

From Melissa KruseWe had so much fun playing on this fashion forward modern-meets-vintage-romance shoot's theme "Bubbly Bride" while creating many many details as countless interpretations of the word "Bubble"! With a chic airy palette of blues, mints, and greys, we built a wedding world of all things bubbly... complete with lots and lots of circles!

We took great care in featuring a round bubble engagement ring, pearl jewelry and detailing on the dress, custom letter-pressed bubble patterns on all the paper goods, an airy bubble hair-do for both the bride's ceremony & party look, and circular menu cards to adorn the perfectly spotted plates. A blue thistle boutonniere, poppies pods in the bride's bouquet, air plants and succulents scattered throughout, and fiddle head ferns adorning the ceremonial arch and reception table carried an airy and circular theme throughout. Even our menu played on the theme with rounded salmon roe, pearl tapioca, basil seeds, radish discs, and spherical arrangements of bok choy leaves. The cake - complete with a hand-painted watercolour bubble pattern - hosts silver bubbles, rounded tiers covered in pearls of white, embossed circular patterns, and a disc design leading up to two silver bubble outlines that represent the matrimonial exchanging of rings... all reaching toward the sky like floating bubbles. And one of my personal favourites: a custom hand-blown bubble glass chandelier to serve as centerpiece for the reception table!

Then there were some of the more literal interpretations: A Bubble Bath, blowing bubbles in bubble tea, a "Bubbly Bar" (aka: champagne lovers' dream!), bubblegum-filled champagne coupes wrapped in bubble wrap and a polka dot box for the parting gift, blowing bubblegum during portraits and bubbles during the ceremony send-off, word bubble name cards for the specialty cocktails (complete with round bubble ice cubes!)...

No detail was left unturned! Even the bride and groom's names, James MacNaughton & Phoenix Fielding, has a back story... The inventor of bubbles was a woman, but her first name is nowhere to be found and she is known in the history books only as Mrs. James MacNaughton. But we do know she lived in Phoenix, and so Phoenix Fielding (Fielding being the last name of the inventor of bubble wrap) was born! Of course, after getting married she would become Mrs. James MacNaughton ;) Even members of the couple's family and bridal party were appropriately named after either miscellaneous inventors of bubble-related goodies or premium bubbly (champagne!). And the wedding date of July 27th?? The day bubble gum was patented, back in the year 1869!

Other favourite details include bright orange lips for a bold twist, pink Louboutins (if not, why not?!), an ultra-modern heart "love" tank during getting ready, and the oh-so-chic party dress with round beaded detailing in Noir for a bit of a spin. Plus, of course, who can resist a pup with ultra sweet eyes and a floral wedding collar to match! Everything was photographed in The Green Building located in Carroll Gardens, Brooklyn this spring.

Cake: Classic Butter Pound Cake with Chocolate Hazelnut Crunch Filling and covered in Hazelnut Cream Swiss Meringue Buttercream. The cake is paneled in hand-painted and textured fondant and edible pearls.

Favors: DIY-Pair of bubble gumball-filled crystal champagne coupes cushioned by bubble wrap and presented in a bubble dot-patterned gift box.

Drinks: Sparkling Nigori Sake with Bokbunja Liqueur and Citrus Soju Spritzer with St. Germain.

Catering: Appetizer: Sea Urchin and Salmon Roe with Cauliflower "Pudding" and Pearl Tapioca. Entree: Pan Roasted Halibut with Braised Daikon, Bok Choy and Chinese Bacon with Basil Seed Vinaigrette. Bubbly Bar with premium champagnes like Billecart-Salmon, Ruinart, Taittinger, Schramsberg and Pol Roger

Paper: Each card was lovingly hand fed into a vintage Vandercook letterpress machine, one color at a time, and printed on 100% cotton, Crane Lettra 110 lb. cover in pearl white and Cranes Color 134 lb. cover in beach glass. Helvetica Neue Font. Striped paper straws in the shoot's blue color palette make a couple cameos - in the bride's bubble tea and as the stands for the signature drinks' word bubble signs. The program includes a modern non-denominational and mixed genders on both sides of the bridal party. We also went for a non-traditional rounded shape for the menu.
