Bohemian Bayou Wedding Inspiration

When I think of a vintage vibe infused with old world French romance, New Orleans immediately comes to mind. This laid back, Louisiana loft-set shoot from Two Sisters Events and Greenhouse Loft without a doubt, exudes that feel in the prettiest way possible. Perfectly pressed pieces from Tweedle Press invite you in, lovely and scattered details from ReFind Joy hold you captive and let’s not forget the sweet treats from FIG Catering that leave you craving more. From Two Sisters EventsFor this shoot, our inspiration was the Louisiana Bayou with bohemian touches. We pulled in soft elements to reflect the whimsical Spanish moss that naturally drapes the trees. Our color palette is a reflection of the neutral tones found in the swamp regions of the Bayou. We used a grayed jade, similar to fresh Spanish moss, as the center of our color scheme, with other natural tones. To round out our color palette, and stay on trend, we pulled in metallic silver accents.

For décor style, we found inspiration in New Orleans’ French Quarter. With vintage stands and platters in tarnished silver, the guests will get a feeling of old world French romance. With simple touches of a medicine shop or voodoo shop, we added repurposed apothecary bottles; while guests find their seats with fun-loving voodoo inspired potions.

With the floral, we kept the colors simple and neutral to keep with the natural monochromatic colors of the Bayou. The bride’s bouquet adds a very soft and romantic touch of color along with interesting textures! The groom’s boutonniere was very simple, but made a statement. Both sure to leave lasting impressions.

For the ceremony, all of the focus was on the beautiful couple! We opted for a simple Spanish moss backdrop that added a soft and romantic texture without distracting from the bride and groom.

The BHLDN Onyx Gown was the perfect blend of bohemian and romantic vintage. We chose this gown in Champagne to blend with the natural tones of the décor.

We collaborated with a few really great Chicago-based vendors! Refind Joy offers very unique pieces… From vintage metal tea pots to great wooden pedestals, Refind Joy’s eclectic props were a great addition to our bohemian décor.

The Greenhouse Loft, located about 10 miles west of Chicago’s Loop, offers a beautifully flexible, and sustainable space. The space, designed by two photographers, is the perfect venue to entertain guests for a small 25-50 person party, or a 200-250 person cocktail event! For our shoot, the Greenhouse Loft offered a simple canvas for our bohemian bayou design. We wanted to keep the décor clean and simple to reflect the clean lines that the loft has.

FIG Catering brought some of the fun, bright, and sweet desserts that New Orleans has to offer! What’s a Bayou inspired wedding without a Croquembouche, King Cake, Pralines, and Bananas Foster Crepes; the desserts New Orleans is known for?
