From A Garden Party… This shoot that captures a transitional winter to spring wedding. Our ultimate goal when coordinating this shoot was to create something that was vibrant, fresh and colorful, while still paying homage to the romanticism of a winter wedding. We used transitional florals, floral bulbs, elements of ice and sugar crystal, and shades of blue and green to create a wintery spring wonderland. Pops of burgundy, magenta and yellow hinted at the warm weather to come. We wanted the shoot to express the excitement of the first beginnings of spring, when flowers emerge from the frozen ground and greenery begins to replace what has died in winter.

The venue was a private residence, and had a rustic, traditional feel already that helped us style the decor. The bride (Miss PA 2011) wore a blue Ombre gown from Theia. Our bridesmaid wore a Caroline Deane green and lace gown. Each lady wore floral crowns comprised of garden roses, muscari, tweedia, jasmine vine, thistle, and begonia foliage. No detail was spared in creating the ceremony and reception decor; an ice blue linen was the perfect backdrop for rustic logs with spring flowers spilling out of them. Clay flower pots were decoupaged with floral printed fabric and held spring flowering bulbs. Hints of bulbs, just beginning to burst with growth were seen in the centerpieces, bouquets, and on the dessert table. Sugared pears served as a pretty little favor and the perfect vessel to pin place cards too. An ice bucket with fresh florals frozen inside made a stunning statement next to delicate glasses with floral ice cubes. Even the chandelier was adorned with hanging smilax vine. The bridal bouquet featured a primrose as the focal point and begonia leaves accented the bridesmaid bouquet. Hand painted cakes in green and blue and paper goods in washed blues tied together the themes of winter and spring.

The season in between winter and spring can be just as beautiful for a wedding as summer or fall- and this styled shoot is proof of that! This dream team of Rachel Pearlman Photography, A Garden Party Florist, Your Day Your Way ” Traveling Hair and Makeup Artistry”, Cake Stand Bakery and Liz Kelly Designs came together to bring a romantic, fresh and colorful take on the transitional wedding! From a stunning blue ombre gown by THEIA worn by our bride, to a 1920s inspired bridesmaid gown by Catherine Deane and sweet floral headpieces, this wedding inspiration is sure to make you reconsider getting married in ideal temperatures.
