Traditional San Francisco Wedding

San Fran and traditional weddings go hand in hand like chocolate and peanut butter, or a really great novel and a rainy weekend.  They’re just meant to be.  So take a fabulous setting like the University Club and throw in some yummy goodness from Branching Out Cakes and the planning expertise of Dream A Little Dream Events and it’s an all-out (classic) party.  See it all captured by Ken Kienow right here.

From the Bride… My husband and I got married in San Francisco, our hometown and favorite city. The feel of the whole wedding was “classic San Francisco.”

I was thrilled to get married in the same beautiful and iconic church, Grace Cathedral, as my parents had almost thirty years prior. A resident artist had strung teal blue ribbons from the ceiling of the cathedral as part of a rotating art exhibit that perfectly matched the bridesmaids’ dresses and our flowers, and managed to make that already breathtaking cathedral even more spectacular.

The reception was held in the University Club, an elegant, historic clubhouse atop Nob Hill that made you feel like you were partying in your incredibly wealthy grandfather’s mansion (if you had an incredibly wealthy grandfather with a mansion). The guest list was an international crowd, with my husband’s old Cambridge classmates flying in from places like Cyprus, London, and Scotland, and my current and former co-workers at San Francisco Ballet, from as far away as Spain, Brazil, and Hong Kong. With such a diverse crowd, not to mention the throng of professional ballerinas, we danced the night away! We even capped the night off at the Tonga Room, a famous San Francisco establishment that also happens to be a tiki bar that has a a rain storm inside every hour.
