From the Bride… Our wedding was very small and intimate. We wanted each person to know that their presence meant a great deal to us and our families. Neither of us are from California and most guests came from out of the country or out of state, so we tried to make each person feel loved up for coming all the way out to California. Small touches in all the handmade decorations, the intimate ceremony, and homemade food delivered to the hotel the day of tried to stress to each guest how privileged we felt to have them. We spent a lot of time making all of the decor. For a few months leading up to the wedding the house was filled with decorations! My groom made the our themed lights which were a huge success. I hand painted all of the signs for the wedding, including one with all of the immediate family members’ names, as well as screenprinted menus on napkins for each guest. But the biggest investment were the center pieces. We weren’t satisfied with florists we looked at and wanted center pieces to compliment our scenic environment. My Groom and I had long ago fallen in love with succulents and airplants since moving to California. As a result, we decided to make arrangements from these plants so that our guests could take them home and live with them for a while. Many of our friends and family still have these growing in their homes many months later. Hire a wedding planner! Or at the very least find that one good friend or family member who will take over the day of, to ensure you can enjoy every moment of the day you worked so hard to create. He or she will make this amazing time possible to enjoy. Know when you can’t do everything yourself and make sure you have a time (at the very least the day before) where you tell everyone you are the bride and groom and questions or duties are no longer allowed to be asked of you. Treat your wedding like the ultimate party and whichever vendors you choose to work with, make sure you can be honest with them. They will be the ones who really come through for you with your vision for the big day. There are three tremendous highlights to the wedding. The first being when I saw my groom for the first time after spending the day apart. I teared up, so excited to finally see him. The second, when my groom broke the glass and we finally escaped to be alone for a few minutes. But the moment that I really felt was a testament to what we tried to create for our wedding, was the last song of the night. Jordan and the Rituals let that song play on for a while, and as they did it, the whole party formed into one huge circle holding each other as we swayed back and forth. It was one of the most amazing moments; the perfect way to ride out a magical evening.
