A Monochromatic Inspired Wedding Shoot

Photographed by Carmen Santorelli, this is a monochromatic inspired affair soup to nuts. We have everything from the engagement (or getaway outfit if you will) right on through to a line-up of stunning cakes coming your way. More on that later. First we’re diving into the buttoned down yet oh so chic looks dreamed up by designer Oak & The Owl plus beauty by Amy Clarke. We’ll be back in a bit with the full inspired affair but if you can’t wait, take a peak right here.

From Nancy of Oak and the Owl… Carmen Santorelli and I discovered during a conversation that we had both been secretly pinning inspiration for a nude/beige shoot for the past year or more. We knew we had to create one since we were both so passionate about it. Since Carmen was going to be shooting it, I took over the design with our base criteria in mind – monochromatic nude/beige. I directed the design of the entire shoot off of a Vera Wang gown that I’d been in love with since I first saw it in 2012, the Joanna. Carmen found it at Erin Cole in Costa Mesa, the only bridal salon, other than Vera Wang’s, that carries it in Southern CA. Following the feel of the dress, I collaborated with some of my favorite vendors in the industry and together we created a romantic and organically textured shoot.

The wardrobe was so fun to put together and working with model Sydney Wheeler and her husband was such an incredible treat. It all came together with ease with the inclusion of Erica Elizabeth’s unbelievably beautiful and intricate head pieces and veils. For the more casual look we had the model in a cocktail dress by Tadashi Shoji and paired it with Erica Elizabeth’s “Octavia Roman Wedding Crown”. It dressed it up and took it to the next level. I imagine a bride at the end of night changing into that dress and headpiece for dancing and running off to her honeymoon.
