Classic + Elegant Pelican Hill Resort Wedding

I love brides who know exactly what they want and don’t settle until they find the perfect vendors to help execute their style and vision. This stunning Bride knew how important that was in achieving a beautiful day that she and her hubs-to-be would love. All it takes is one look at onelove photography‘s insanely gorgeous images to know how on point that advice is. This one, it’s classic elegance at it’s best lovelies!

From the beautiful Bride… Today, there is endless opportunity for brides to pull inspiration from all sorts of media angles and it is easy to get overwhelmed and distracted from the direction you want to take in designing your wedding. I believe the overall feel of the wedding needs to be a reflection of the personality of the couple and their relationship. I decided to focus on the things we love and what represents us.

We both love trends, but overall, I tried to keep our wedding design fairly timeless. Pelican Hill’s heavy architecture, our sophisticated florals, black tie attire, and romantic string quartet helped us achieve the classic elegance we wanted to portray. We incorporated a playful personality through some design elements and mainly at our reception. My husband, Ali, lives for music so we wanted a fun and interactive band, which we found in Wayne Foster Entertainment! He also has a love affair with donuts, so we had the Fry Girl making fresh mini donuts for our guests to enjoy, as well as an Italian Gelato cart (my personal fav!).

Pelican Hill is a stunning venue, so I didn’t want to mask the raw beauty of the Italian architecture, so I kept design elements minimal, although florals are always a must! We fell in love with our florist, Nancy of Oak and the Owl, and together we achieved my desired style direction. We kept the coloring classic and neutral by using soft yet rich tones of champagne, antique shades of caramel, with deep emerald greenery. Florals included playful dahlias and berries, romantic garden roses, and silver dusty miller leaves to add texture. We draped Bay Leaf Garland down the isles of the ceremony to add to the elegant and textural styling. Our signage added more of a raw and organic feel in using wood stained boards to direct our guests.

Thanks to all the mental pictures I took, I remember every single minute of my wedding day. My absolute favorite part of the day was stepping out of the bridal suite with my Dad, trying to get a glimpse of Ali’s face. I was dying to see him! The moment I saw him, I knew there was no other place in the world I should be. I knew that this was God’s plan for me and it was real. I felt an overwhelming amount of peace and calmness. It was the absolute best moment of my life.

My one major piece of advice to brides is to choose your vendors wisely. Make sure to meet with a few vendors in each category before making your decision and until you feel the warm and fuzzies, do not book with just anyone. At the end of the day, your vendors are who run your day and make what your dream is on paper, come to life! I will forever be thankful to those who worked so hard to give me my perfect day! xo
