From the Bride… Our May 4th wedding in Apopka, Florida was incredibly special because it was entirely homegrown and dreamed up by Matt, myself and some amazing, lovely, talented friends. When I think of our wedding, I think of all the people that stretched, squeezed and maximized our tiny budget to give us a more beautiful wedding than I could have ever dreamed up on my own. Our friends served as the wedding planners, caterers, florists and set up/tear down crew. Every part of our wedding day felt meaningful because it was such a team effort. In all the wedding planing and preparation, it felt like we were running this never-ending marathon, so by the time the big day got here, anticipation was at its peak, joy was in the air, and we were ready to celebrate and be merry!

We took advantage of our venue’s natural outdoor beauty and incorporated earth elements such as moss, wood and burlap that we mixed with soft golds and metallics, ribbon and lace. A dear friend and mentor to Matt and I let us use his property for the ceremony and reception, which he had recently converted to a wedding site for his daughter. Our mentor Roger made the ceremony benches from trees in his backyard, created a pole barn for the reception, and even built a fully plumbed and electric-powered outhouse to accompany the reception site. It was the perfect venue for such an intimate, celebratory day. Even as I write and reflect on our wedding, I can’t help but smile and light up because as cliche as it sounds, my wedding day was truly one of the happiest days of my life.
