From the Bride… I visited Viansa Winery for the first time in 2008 (before I was even dating my husband) while celebrating my mom’s birthday in Sonoma. I fell in love with it right away and remember myself saying how I would love to get married there one day.
Five years later, I did… and it was perfect! When we were researching and visiting wedding venues, Viansa really stood out to us. We loved the Italian-like building. The courtyard. The setting. The view. We loved everything about the property. Getting married in the wine country, it was important to me to utilize the wine country theme and take advantage of all the natural beauty that the venue offered. Our ceremony took place in an outdoor courtyard and our cocktail hour was up at the terrace with a gorgeous view overlooking the Sonoma Valley!
The most important concept at my wedding was the details and ambiance. As a professional event planner, I have seen and been exposed to so many different elements of design and trends. It was important to me that I stayed consistent and classic throughout my design and that each detail related to the next in some way or another. ‘Rustic elegance’ made for beautiful décor and the perfect combination to reflect our style. One of my favorite design elements was our head table. We put two wood queens tables together and wrapped our bridal party around the table. The centerpieces were tall handmade iron candelabras adorned with loose flowing flowers. Instead of a traditional linen table runner, I used olive branches and eucalyptus leaves. My husband and I had a beautiful garland connecting the back of our chairs, which symbolized us becoming ‘one.’
I wanted more than just a beautiful wedding; I wanted guests to walk away with an experience they would remember forever.
Brendan and I customized our ceremony with our Pastor so that the verses and verbiage that was shared really meant something to us. In addition, we exchanged personal statements to one another. We didn’t know what one another was going to say or do, which was even more special. It was amazing how much overlap there was in what we said to one another. Our guests experienced laughter and tears with us, which was very neat.
We had our love story printed on the liner of our invitation envelope so that when guests opened their invitation, they read our love story timeline. This was especially unique because we met in middle school through two of our best friends (who are brother and sister) and went to middle school, high school and collage together! However, it wasn’t until after college that we reconnected, and three years later, said ‘we do!’
The heart underneath my dress from my dad’s jacket – My dad passed away when I was a little girl. In order to feel like he was still with me on my special day, I had a heart cut from the liner of his favorite leather jacket, and sewn underneath my wedding dress.
Our guests and our bridal party were the most important part of our wedding. They are who made us, ‘us’ and we couldn’t be more grateful. From the champagne greet at our guests’ arrival, to the live band at the reception, we wanted our guests to feel special and enjoy themselves as much as possible. Our guests and our bridal party have been our support system and we wanted to make sure that our wedding experience portrayed that to all of them. We included a special thank you in our ceremony programs, as well as in our welcome speech.
From Hazy Lane Studios… Timing is everything and Lindsay and Brendan’s story is no different. The two met in middle school, attended high school and college together – quite seperately. It wasn’t until after college and a chance meeting at a sweet little cafe in their hometown that the sparks flew. Both were single and Brendan swept Lindsay off of her feet in a whirlwind romance, proposal and marriage. Every detail, every ounce of their wedding day was filled with love and romance. From their custom worded ceremony that had guests laughing and crying to an amazing 12-piece band that had people dancing all night, their day was truly a celebration.
Lindsay looked stunning in her Maggie Sottero gown, with a light touch of sparkle, she allowed her natural beauty to shine.
The maids looked stunning in taupe mismatched gowns with shoes that reflected their personalities. The men all wore dark brown suits with taupe satin ties and argyle socks.
