From the Bride… The beginning stages of wedding planning can feel daunting, or even completely overwhelming. The best thing I think a bride can do is make the big decisions early in the planning process and then focus on the details as the big day gets closer. I love research and had spent months pouring over blog after blog looking for a photographer and videographer who could capture my dreams of natural light and vibrant footage. My dream came true in the form of Feather & Twine Photography and The Wedding Theater. They understood our vision and went above and beyond to give us the most amazing pictures and video.
All other decisions seemed to fall perfectly into place. My mother did an amazing job with our centerpieces; she truly took my vision and ran with it. I wanted a clean look with all white flowers: i.e. hydrangeas, roses, ranunculus, and stock for the tables, arrangements and bouquets. My bridesmaids wore an assortment of J.Crew Dusty Shale dresses and the groomsmen wore gray pants and vests from Express and their own white shirts and brown shoes. My husband built a stage out of pallets and we used large whiskey barrels to place the ceremony flower arrangements on. Fabric was draped from the rafters; we wanted to use the ceiling height as much as possible and the rafters gave us that chance. The ceremony was such a lovely representation of Christ’s love for the church, which was our ultimate goal of the day.
Our guests were the number one focus for our reception. We wanted a huge party, great food and fun music. We made that happen with Glenn Roush Entertainment and a huge box of costumes. I’d seen glow necklaces at previous weddings and wanted to take it a step further with full out costumes. We had everything from crowns, masks and feather boas to cabana hats, mohawks and clown bow-ties. It took the dance party to another level! For the dinner, I asked a dear friend to paint the entire menu on a large white pallet and it was displayed near the buffet. The night ended with a surprise exit using glow sticks. Our sparklers went missing and thank goodness I have creative sisters who thought of an alternative exit plan. We ended up loving the glow sticks and the amazing pictures of our exit solidified that it was the best way to leave our big night. The entire weekend was such a dream. I’m incredibly thankful to everyone who made it possible and for the amazing man I now get to call, “my husband.”
