Florida Wedding full of Vintage Charm

As much as I love a great glitter moment (hello table numbers) it’s the last kiss of this gorgeous wedding night captured by Ashley McCormick that really sealed the deal. It’s the perfect ending to a beautiful day full of vintage details by RW Events, florals by Peddles and, of course, some great glitter details thrown in for good measure. From Mallory, the Bride… Brad and I had huge crushes on each other before we ever met. We went to the same gym for over a year and saw each other almost daily, but we were both too shy to introduce ourselves. I eventually moved to the opposite side of town (and a new gym). A couple of years later, we happened to run into each other at a local watering hole. We finally had the courage to talk to each other that night, and we have been inseparable ever since.

Our wedding day was everything we dreamt it would be. From the bowtie napkin folds, to the vintage tufted chairs and settee, to the mint green armoire we used as our cake table and the vintage Cadillac getaway car, every detail oozed vintage charm.

One of my favorite wedding projects was putting together a display of all of our guests’ wedding pictures. We were able to get a wedding photo from every single married couple that attended ours. It was a huge project (thank goodness we had almost two years of planning time), but they payoff was a beautiful display of over 40 photos of the people we love most on their own special day. It was so rewarding to watch our guests find their wedding photo and instantly be brought back to their very own wedding day.

One of the most memorable parts of the evening was honoring my grandparents during the reception as they celebrated their 55th wedding anniversary that night. I introduced my grandparents to our guests and shared their story – how they moved their family of seven from the Philippines to the U.S. but not before spending more than seven years apart from my grandfather after he enlisted in the U.S. Navy. I explained that when my grandparents were married fifty-five years prior, they had borrowed everything from the veil to the bouquet from their church. I then dedicated my bridal bouquet to my grandmother because she deserved to have her own. We all toasted to my grandparents’ accomplishment and watched as they shared their own special dance to the song Unchained Melody, sung by my lovely sister.

Brad and I waited for so long to meet each other, wondering silently and curiously about each other. When we look back now, we know that it was meant to be that way. Neither of us ever will ever forget that feeling of butterflies that we used to get as we would pass each other in the gym, and we will always know how lucky we are to be in each other’s lives in the capacity that we are today. It may have taken some time to get there, but when we were both ready to meet our other half, just like our wedding day, it all happened so seamlessly.
