I know we’re just getting out of the crazy cold winter we had this year, but forgive me as I bring us back for a moment (I promise, once you see the gallery you won’t mind). A wedding this elegant could only happen in the winter with a beautiful snowfall, and could only be captured by the lovely Lindsay of Readyluck. Aime Decker Beauty dolled up our stunning bride, and the day that followed was one for goosebumps and happy tears!
From the stunning bride… Maryland has been home to me my whole life, and I couldn’t imagine getting married anywhere else. Antrim fit the mold for our 20’s inspired winter wedding perfectly! With it’s historic charm, and unique details, I knew it would be the perfect backdrop to our special day.
We specifically looked for a quaint and historic chapel to complete the intimate feel of our wedding day. The chapel barely fit 100 guests. I loved how everyone was so close together, and so close to us. It felt intimate and special.
We knew we wanted to have a winter wedding, but wanted to infuse an additional theme that showed our personalities and love for nostalgia. I was picturing a snowy evening on the Atlantic City Boardwalk in the 1920’s.
We infused details that evoked this feeling from the accordion player at our cocktail hour, to the prohibition era signature drinks, to the vintage reproduction photobooth, and the cigar bar for after dinner. The pre civil war parlor environment was absolutely perfect for what we were going for. The fireplaces were blazing, and there were tons of candles to create a cozy atmosphere against the snowy backdrop. I focused heavily on the typography of all of the paper goods. I designed and made all of the invitations, programs, menus, really anything that was paper. I also made the cake stands, cake topper, photobooth props, and favors.
I think our favorite detail about the wedding was the accordion player at our cocktail hour. Although we only got to interact with her for a few minutes, the warm italian classics she was playing amongst the roaring fire with snow falling outside was magical.
Our other favorite moment of the wedding was our first dance (typical, I know!). We danced to “La Vie En Rose” by Louis Armstrong. We practiced really hard on our twirl and dip finale, which got a round of applause and a few whistles from our guests! I’m just glad he didn’t drop me!
We love the fact that we got married on groundhog’s day. We joked about how awesome it would be if we could wake up the day after the wedding, and it was our wedding day again! I had to sneak one groundhog somewhere in the reception, so I made a groundhog cake topper out of a figurine that I purchased from Etsy.
Every little project that you do for your wedding, you will notice and appreciate so much on your wedding day. Although I spent many long nights slaving away on everything from my wedding invitations to my cake topper, I asked my self the question “will I even notice this?.” We noticed everything, and felt 100% happy with the end result.
