This entire wedding – from beginning to end – is gorgeous. But I could not tear myself away from the crazy bananas gorgeousness of the floral table and the reception space. So forgive the sheer volume of photos devoted to flowers and make sure to spend some time poring over all of the other details that At Dusk Photography captured so beautifully.
From the bride…James and I first met when we were 12 years old at a local tennis camp. At the end of the week James asked for my phone number, which I wrote on a Cornetto wrapper. For years I wondered why he never called me and I later found out it was because his mother, Ann, had thought the ice cream wrapper was rubbish and had thrown it away! We bumped into each other at a friends’ 16th birthday and instantly recognized each other. A little while after that we started dating and have been together ever since!
I wanted the our bridesmaids to feel unique and like themselves so we all went to Bridesmaids only together and they chose the style and color of dress that made them feel the most beautiful. I wanted subtle tones to blend in with the green grass and country feel.
It was pouring with rain for the majority of the day, especially while we were getting ready. We weren’t fazed though, we quite like rain! It stopped in time for the ceremony, which we had moved to an undercover location at the entrance to the house just in case. It turned out to be a blessing in disguise as the wet weather option was more beautiful than we could have imagined! The rain stopped for the photographs around the property and started again when we were safe and sound under cover for the reception. Perfect!
My sister got her wedding gown from Karen Willis Holmes and it was just perfect! I always knew I’d look for my dress there as they have such a variety of dresses. I had seen Karen Willis Holmes gowns in countless magazines and actually cut out the gown that I ended up choosing when I first got engaged and stuck it in my inspiration book without realizing it was the same one! My accessories were James’ late Nanna’s antique watch, my late Nan’s eternity ring, my mother’s diamond earrings, a Karen Willis Holmes veil and my mother’s veil was used to tie around each of our veils.
The music was a jazz band called The Escalators. They were recommended to us by Terrara House. The band played Jazz and covers and created an excellent vibe – everyone was up and dancing all night.
Our photographer, Chris Prestige from At Dusk Photography was a relaxed and easy going photographer, who made us feel really comfortable.
