Malibu Wedding with Romantic Purple Details

I challenge you to find a wedding that screams romance more than this one. Twinkle lights dripping from trees, found vintage details tucked into every corner, a bride who seriously knows fashion (fun fact: her boss is the fabulous Tadashi Shoji) and a general sense of timelessness that sets the tone for all of the lovely. With photos by Sun & Sparrow, you can see the whole wedding right here.

From the Bride...The Garden Pavilion at Calamigos Ranch, Malibu was the perfect backdrop for the vintage glamour theme I envisioned for the wedding. The ceremony was held under a 100 year old Oak tree with tiny white lights along its branches and the guests were seated in chairs on a sprawling lawn with white rose petals and shepherd’s hooks holding white flowers adorning the aisle. IZZE drinks in galvanized steel tubs with lavender and white paper straws greeted guests at the ceremony. I loved the lace that the calligrapher used on the invitations so much that it became the inspiration for many of the wedding’s key components – the DIY programs, menus, and donation sign had the same lace digitally printed on them, the cake’s frosting emulated the design, and the cocktail and dessert tables were swathed in a similar vintage-inspired floral lace. A string trio played The Verve’s Bittersweet Symphony before guests made their way to the reception area, a short walk away.

Entering the reception pavilion, guests were welcomed with a guest book and stunning bouquet of orchids and lavender atop a vintage dresser. Vintage sofas, chairs, and tables perfectly complimented the large wood patio and I spent months finding the perfect accessories to adorn the tables – a vintage inspired clock and phone, mercury glass candlesticks and vases, A + M silver letters, and more. I worked especially hard on collecting old photographs from both sides of the family for the heirloom shelf and even had a photograph of my great grandmother on her wedding day along with the actual wreath that she wore on that day wrapped around the frame. Family is significant to me and Mike and we were delighted that the heirloom table reflected this sentiment.

Dinner was served under an elegant white tent with flowing white drapes, amber twinkling lights, crystal chandeliers and lavender lighting. DIY place cards featured meal choices stamped in the form of a cow, fish, or carrot, so cute! Lavender low flower arrangements in mercury glass bowls sat atop grey linens while a DIY menu and sprig of lavender and dusty miller were tucked into each guest’s napkin. The dessert table off to the side featured the ‘floral lace’ cake, macaroons, a cream puff tower, brownies, and more. A photo booth kept the guests entertained while the DJ belted out an eclectic mix from Barry White, Van Morrison, Rick James, Michael Jackson, Beyonce, and Rihanna. Lavender and grey flip flops were provided for ‘tired feet’ and the ladies could warm up in lavender and grey pashminas once the temperature dropped.

My dear boss, fashion designer Tadashi Shoji, took a picture with me and the 25+ ladies dressed in Tadashi Shoji before a vintage white Rolls Royce pulled up to the venue to whisk me and Mike away. The Rolls Royce was decorated in lavender and grey pom poms and a ‘Just Married’ calligraphy sign purchased from one of the many talented artists on Etsy. The shuttles for the guests weren’t far behind and took the guests back to the Four Seasons Westlake Village to continue the party. A perfect day!
