From Lindsay, the Bride… Having both grown up in Palos Verdes, my fiance Matt and I felt destined to get married in the same place we met as children 20 years prior. We had spent our youth playing along those cliffs, so it was truly a dream come true to look each other in the eye and promise our love to one another in a place with so much history and such a big part of our story.

I called the wedding Gypsy by the Sea. I wanted an eclectic mix of vintage gypsy with a country seaside in England. This way we could bring in elements of the country – lanterns, vintage colored glassware from Casa De Perrin and organic elements like rust, wood and home-made honey – all the while combining a colorful “gypset” feeling inspired by the ocean with watercolors, satin ribbons and colorful crystals. I wore a vintage inspired dress called The Butterfly, a custom made vintage-like veil and a caplet to match each from Parisian designer Les Habitudes.

Having my own branding agency, Social Gypsy, my favorite part of the process is telling a story. In this story, we wanted to capture the elements of the sun and the ocean, a “yin and a yang” that represents Matt and I. Our incredible wedding planner Hallie Slade, from La Boheme Events, did a wonderful job helping us create this. We wanted to bring in elements of the earth with lots of wood, lit candles and wild flowers since we are both so fond of nature. Holly Flora blew us away by creating inspired floral arrangements – using wild flowers, succulents and gorgeous light tones all held in brass antique vases. They also brought tons of colored glass candleholders that reflected warm colorful light everywhere. We rented an old farmhouse table for the head table and dressed it with a gorgeous hand made watercolor table runner created by Bramble Workshop. One of our songs was Here Comes the Sun (thank goodness it was sunny that day) and Prim and Pixie created tote bags to match for guests with the image of a large sun over the blue ocean.

For invitations I wanted something that would capture the essence of where we were getting married. Terranea has gorgeous sunsets over the ocean. We painted watercolors, which we then incorporated into the invitations with the very talented Prim and Pixie, along with menus and place cards to match. For the table cards we went with an ombre design inspired by the horizon at sunset joining the ocean. They were delicately placed on a rustic wooden door.

The dress was champagne, which went perfectly with my rose gold diamond and ruby wedding band and his rose gold band custom designed by Kathy Rose of Roseark (she also made my engagement ring). I found the perfect Jimmy Choo heels that added some flair to the dress, earrings and a clutch from Roseark and I wore a vintage diamond and gold bracelet given to my grandmother by my grandfather on her wedding day. Shannon Kim Hair did an ethereal loose side bun with soft braids and each bridesmaid had a braid-do of her choosing. Kerry Malouf Make-up did a gorgeous glowing “no make-up,” make-up look, while Gina Mari’ Skincare prepped my skin for months leading up to the date with a special bridal skincare routine so I wouldn’t have to wear too much make-up. The bridesmaids wore dusty rose, hand selected Roseark earrings with jackets and shawls of their choice. I wore two jackets through out the evening, a vintage rabbit fur passed down from my mother and a maroon rock inspired vintage jacket I found at my favorite store, Déjà Vu in Sun Valley, ID.

It was a magical evening (captured on camera by the very talented Rebecca Fishman of Birds of a Feather) that flew by. We danced the night away to The James Gang band. Fresh flowers were delicately placed on the delicious multi-flavored cake by Jamaica Cakes. Guests also had the opportunity to spend time in the tented outdoor lounge that we created to look like a swanky Parisian hideaway with couches, starry lights, a bar and meaningful keepsakes that we placed on furniture from Found Vintage Rentals. It was a Gypsy by the Sea’s fairy tale for both of us, and a night we will never forget.
