I’ve really grown to love the “Warming of the Rings” that’s come into vogue recently. Everyone “warms” the rings while thinking a sweet wish for the happy couple before they exchange their vows. It’s no surprise, based on their beautiful wedding with blooms from Sayles Livingston Flowers, that these two choose to incorporate this tradition. From the photographer… Cate and Will’s early fall farm wedding was a delight to capture. Will’s family is from England so when touring venues in Cate’s home region of New England, the couple knew they had found the right place when they arrived at Mount Hope Farm and the same sheep from Will’s grandmother’s farm were meandering around. An emotional ceremony full of happy tears and a ring warming (where each member of the bridal party held the couple’s wedding bands and gave them special wish) took place in the garden. Afterwards, in the barn the couple hosted a traditional New England clambake to give guests from out of state and across the pond a taste of the East Coast.
From the stunning bride… We knew we wanted to be married somewhere special, and as soon as we saw Mt Hope we fell in love! It’s absolutely perfect for what we wanted – casual, romantic, New England to a T!
My sister and mom completely planned and decorated the shelves in the barn as a surprise for Will and I (as well as our guests!) With help from family from all over, there were precious photographs of the most special people in our lives. It really made the space feel very personal.
We instantly fell in love with Mt. Hope as soon as we stepped foot on the property, but it was the small details that made the decision even easier. Will’s granny, who lives in a small country town in England, even has the exact same breed of sheep as Mt Hope farm! The “Hunter” sign on the fireplace was made by my cousin Kate and given to me at my bridal shower.
DIY bits — the swags on the back of the bride and groom chairs, the chalkboard table numbers, my sister made the framed quote sign as you walked into the ceremony space.
The “warming of the rings” was my favorite part of the ceremony.
