Classic Greenville Country Club Wedding

Valentine’s Day is just a week away and with it brings the anniversary of this couple’s first day – which happened more than a decade ago. Based on the images of their stunning fall wedding from MK Photography, their love is like a really, really good wine… just getting better with age. So grab a glass (it’s five o’clock somewhere…) and sink into the gallery. You’ll be so happy you did.

From the beautiful bride… Fall has always been my favorite season. For as long as I can remember, I knew I wanted to get married with the fall leaves and season being the centerpiece of my wedding.

We could not have asked for a more beautiful venue and backdrop to our amazing day, then Greenville Country Club.

All of our vendors were extremely creative and made my dream of a fall/rustic -countryside wedding theme come true. From the venue and event planner, to the fabulous band, the talented photography of Mike and Jana, the exquisite flower décor with dim candlelit lighting, the delicious Kentucky Ginger and Almond wedding cake, the hand scripted dinner menu displayed on a chalk board easel in front of a glowing fireplace, all the way down to the gorgeous hand-carved wooden pumpkin card holder – the evening was everything we could have dreamed of and more.

We met at St. Mark’s High School, Wilmington, DE. I was a senior and Mike was a junior. On an evening at a mutual friend’s house, I took an interest in the tall, handsome football player. I approached Mike’s brother, Matt, and told him how cute I thought Mike was.

After several weekday and weekend run-ins, Mike asked me on a date. Our first date was on Valentine’s Day; he took me to dinner and then we watched a movie back at his parent’s house. The date ended in a long kiss goodnight and our lives were changed forever.

After 10 years of dating, and waiting patiently and impatiently, Mike finally decided that the time was right to pop the question. May 20, 2012 on the day of our graduation from our Master’s degrees, we went to dinner with our families at La Casa Pasta in Newark, DE. After the lovely, celebratory dinner of our accomplishment, Mike stood up to make a speech. I thought nothing of it, other than I did not want to make a speech after his. As Mike was saying what a wonderful day the we were sharing with our families, he began to compliment me and all he loves about me. It wasn’t until he dropped to one knee that I knew exactly what was about to happen. Mike asked me to be his wife surrounded by both our loving families. The first person I had to call was my beloved Grammy. Of course, Mike had already told the also impatient Grammy. We took off to Negril, Jamaica the very next day to celebrate our graduation and now our engagement. It was the icing on the cake to a perfect weekend!
