San Francisco City Hall Elopement

I may sound like a broken record, but I adore elopements like you wouldn’t believe. It doesn’t get more romantic than saying I do in such an intimate setting, and when you do so with Monica Roy snapping up all the sweet moments, you are officially entering a new level of lovely. See every moment of this gorgeous elopement here.

From Monica RoyEmma and Cody met cute just like in the movies. They knew each other since 7th grade but didn’t get together until graduating in high school. The two love movies and Cody is a filmmaker, so it was only fitting that Cody invited Emma to see “Moonrise Kingdom” when it debuted in the theaters. Imagine Emma’s surprise as the first trailer of the night turned out to be mash-up of cinematic romantic scenes that Cody, a filmmaker, had created specifically to propose to Emma.

Originally from Kansas City, the couple and their closest family and friends avoided the typical huge weddings that took place in their circles and had a “group destination elopement” to San Francisco for their wedding weekend. They made sure to have a very “San Francisco” wedding, with a ceremony at SF City hall, reception at the elegant Wayfare Tavern (with wonderful, local food) in Financial District, portrait session at the Golden Gate Bridge, and post wedding San Francisco Giant’s game they attended with all their guests later that evening. The bride and groom wore retro tinged outfits (very “Moonrise Kingdom”, in other words), and made sure to include meaningful heirlooms and tokens of appreciation to their loved ones. These included a bible which had been passed down maternal generations in Emma’s family and an elephant motif which paid tribute to Cody’s mother who had passed and loved elephants.I had a wonderful time sitting next to their witty friends during lunch and wish them all the best in the future.
