Wedding Day Makeup Tips + Tricks

Makeup is one of those things that I just can’t do. A well made up face is perfection, and it looks so easy to do, but when I try my hand at it, it never goes quite right. But after reading Carolyn Berry’s, of Modern Bridal Studio, tips I am ready to take another go at it. I’m sure I can do it with these tricks in my back pocket!

Best makeup for your wedding day, tips from a pro:

Airbrush. In the warmer seasons, I love airbrush because it takes longer for sweat and oil to break down the foundation. I also love airbrush if more coverage is needed, think acne or hyperpigmentation. All airbrush foundations are not created equally while some have a bad reputation of being heavy, we have tried and tested each of the major brands and found two we are in love with:

Temptu (one): With it’s adjustable coverage, it works great with most other brands for powder and concealers. A sheer coat of this will have your face looking flawless for 12 hours. My brides tell me they have slept in their makeup and wake up looking fresh!

Obsessive Compulsive Cosmetics: This produces a very sheer natural coverage that you will not be able to feel on your skin! Another plus – it’s vegan friendly!

Color tricks for the camera. Corrective concealer underneath your foundation will alter the way that the lights reflects when the camera starts flashing. Try: green for redness, purple or pink for dull skin. orange for bruising or dark circles. Use the corrective color as the first layer directly on top of your primer or moisturizer.

Our second favorite color trick is to set the make look with a professional yellow powder. It makes everything appear brighter and is a trick of the stars!

We recommend KohGenDo (five) makeup base in pink/lavender for dull skin, and our must have powder has got to be Ben Nye Banana Powder (two)!

Eye makeup tricks for everyone. We follow the red carpet on Pinterest and notice a definite trend for the incoming season:

We recommend Makeup Forever Aqua Eyes (three) in Metallic Yellow & Nars Eye Paint (four) in Transvaal Grey.
