After poring through all of these seriously pretty photos from Nancy Neil, I want to reach through this computer screen and squeeze this adorable couple. Their personality oozes out of every thoughtful detail of their gorgeous Tapia Park fête, making it as meaningful as it was beautiful (and making me want to become their bestie). From the Bride…When Tyler and I started planning our wedding, we knew we wanted something that was simple, beautiful, memorable, affordable, and most importantly fun and enjoyable for our guests. We were engaged in December and wanted a Spring wedding, so with a short four month engagement time was of the essence. Our dream ceremony setting was in an open meadow with church pew seating and naturally beautiful scenery which can be tough to find in Los Angeles. After searching high and low for a venue that fit within our dream and our budget, we found the perfect meadow in Tapia Park. We were the first couple to be married there as it is not a traditional wedding venue, but we were willing to accept the challenge (and risk April showers). With the help and hard work of friends and family we transformed the meadow into a magical and intimate ceremony venue. Our 230 guests sat in beautiful white church pews from Pretty Vintage Table facing the altar with a breathtaking backdrop of rolling hills. We exchanged our vows as the sun set behind the hill and it was everything we had dreamed. A wool Moroccan rug was beneath us at the altar and now resides in our living room as a stylish sentiment of the best day of our lives (so-far!).
After a cocktail and hors d’oeuvres hour in the park, we had dinner and dancing to follow at Tyler’s parents’ home. Our goal was that our reception would feel warm, inviting, comfortable and fun! The style was a juxtaposition of vintage, classic, and contemporary design. Pretty Vintage Table designed our tablescape with elegant fine vintage china, crystal goblets, and vintage silverware transforming our wedding of 230 guests into what felt like an intimate gathering. A grey linen runner ran the length of the long family style tables with classic white flowers and greenery in contemporary glass vases. We served a comforting farm-to-table style meal. Due to our long guest list, a buffet worked best for our space and we placed the salad and rolls on the table to embrace a family style feel. For desert we served our favorite: delicious heart shaped brownies made by our dear friend Barb, fresh local berries, and Haagen-dazs Vanilla Ice Cream. My mom made her famous carrot cake for us to cut and enjoy as well!
We danced the night away under a canopy of market lights. We ended the night with a sparkler “stay in” because we weren’t ready to leave! We truly had the best time with our family and friends and could not ask for a more perfect way to begin our lives together.
