Rose Hill Mansion Wedding

The Southern Wedding. With an array of classic gowns with that beautiful, modern twist, groomsmen proudly donning pink more often than not, and the venues that speak to the romantic at heart, The Southern Wedding is a pure form of art. Just ask Scobey Photography, who captured the ultimate Hilton Heat soiree. It’s romantic, it’s soft, and it’s as happy as it’s locale dictates it should be. Maybe happier!

From the stunning bride… Our wedding was inspired by the scenery and culture of the South Carolina Lowcountry. My family has been vacationing in Hilton Head Island for years, and it quickly became a special place for Dan and I as a couple. For many of our guests, it was their first time visiting the area, so we wanted to be sure everyone had an opportunity to experience a quintessential southern wedding. Each detail we chose, from the food to the flowers, was a nod to the local area. My favorite part of the planning process was ensuring that our theme was carried through to every element, and that the whole look and feel of the wedding was cohesive.

With the gorgeous mansion as a backdrop, we wanted to keep decorations to a minimum. The colors in the wedding party attire and flowers corresponded wonderfully to the groves of live oaks that surround the property. We used a sketch of one of the property’s live oak trees on our invitation’s RSVP card, and I repeated the design on our place cards, which were my proudest DIY achievement. We designed the tent with open sides and twinkle lights so the guests felt as if they were dining and dancing under the stars. I think this—coupled with the fact that everyone was on vacation—really contributed to the celebratory mood, and the dance floor was packed all night long.

For me, the highlight of the evening (apart from marrying my best friend, of course) was when my father-in-law serenaded us with James Taylor’s “Carolina in my Mind.” This moment, singing along with our closest family and friends, is a memory I will cherish forever. The excitement and love was palpable and it epitomized the laid-back, relaxing wedding I had dreamed about.”
