From  Spread Love Events... When Natalie and Jeff hired Spread Love Events as their Event Stylists they had a clear vision in mind and we couldn't wait to get started! They wanted the day to be a personal reflection of themselves and for friends and family to feel welcome and to use the day to not only celebrate the marriage of Natalie and Jeff, but for guests to recognize and celebrate the love in their own lives. Held on their private family farm in Ontario on Thanksgiving weekend, the atmosphere was intimate, elegant and inviting, with vintage details, farm-to-table cuisine, and sublte festive fall elements. Their day was the perfect combination of handmade details and luxury, full of love, joy, laughter and unforgetable moments.

From the Bride... We wanted a day that truly reflected who we were as a couple and made our closest friends and family feel welcome and comfortable. Jeff and I started out by finding ways that we could incorporate “us” into the day. Jeff is a builder, so we put his skills to use in making items for our wedding. We built our own containers for the flowers made from reclaimed wood that we found near our family’s summer home. Jeff built the bar using reclaimed barn board and up-cycled a stone countertop that one of his customers had decided not to use. In addition to these smaller projects, the barn was too small to hold all the guests we wanted to have, so he built an addition to the barn that added 750 square feet. We put so much of ourselves into the details of the day, and although it was a true labor of love, on our wedding day we truly felt that we had created exactly what we wanted: a beautiful venue surrounded by the people we really love.

There were so many moments during the planning process that were so special. One of the best for me was shopping for my dress at Gabriella Bridal in New York. We planned a mother-daughter weekend and were so fortunate to find the Jenny Packham dress of my dreams in our first trip. It was such a special time for my mom and I to share together.

The week leading up to the wedding was truly an all-out effort from our families, bridal party and vendors to make everything come together. My sister took on the role of site supervisor and directed rentals and set up crews like it was her job! Our mothers helped put all the little details together, like the s’mores packages, programs and filled candy jars. We also had a friend of ours bake mini cupcakes for us that were a hit with everyone.

The night of the rehearsal dinner we were able to take it all in and enjoy a casual evening with friends and family. We knew that no matter what happened the following day, we had put so much of ourselves into the day and were just so happy that after nearly five years together, we would be husband and wife.

On the day of our wedding I woke up and felt completely relaxed and ready to be a bride. Everything went so smoothly thanks to the help we had that it was honestly one of the most relaxing, yet exhilarating days either of us had ever experienced. When we did our first look out in the breezy field on the farm, it was as if we were seeing each other for the first time. I’ll never forget the smile on Jeff’s face and the feeling of pure joy that overcame us. From that time on, we had a lot of time to just hang out during the afternoon until the ceremony. There was no stress about timing or getting photos done. Everything just flowed as if it was totally natural. When my florist brought my bouquet to me, I started crying because it was the most beautiful collection of flowers I had ever seen. She understood exactly the look I wanted and went above and beyond what I expected.

When my dad and I walked down the aisle, I had one of my students who is a bagpiper, pipe us down the aisle to a traditional Scottish hymn. It was a surreal moment for my family and such a good way to honor our shared Scottish heritage. The ceremony was performed by one my colleagues, and included some beautiful readings and words of wisdom. After the ceremony, guests were served an apple cider bourbon cocktail in mason jars and hors d’oeuvres. Because we had done our photos earlier, after a few moments stolen away, Jeff and I were able to join our guests to celebrate.  After an incredible meal that included seasonal, fresh local ingredients, we got our guests up and outside where they greeted us to the dance floor with sparklers for our first dance to “Harvest Moon” by Neil Young. Everyone was ready to celebrate with us and we kicked off an amazing dance party that lasted to the wee hours. It was a day so perfectly made for the two of us, and we feel so blessed to have been able to create amazing memories that we will always cherish.
