From Kate Preftakes Photography… Courtney and Jay were married on a gorgeous September day at Courtney’s grandparents’ campground. The couple lives in NYC but knew they wanted to have their wedding at this very special place where Courtney and her family have been spending summers since her childhood. This wedding had so many stylish and personal details. It was a marvelous mixture of antiques and modern beauty. I loved everything about this wedding. Courtney was not only gorgeous but calm and wonderful and kind. She and Jay are a perfect pair.

From the Bride… Growing up in CA we always spent the summer in NH at my grandparents’ house on Ayers Lake in NH. I enjoyed summers on the farm fishing, swimming, canoeing etc. When Jay and I started dating, I couldn’t wait to take him to NH. The first time he visited was Christmas years. We spent time with my dad, siblings and grandparents. Jay began to appreciate the tradition of the farm! We have so many special memories there at Ayers Lake. We love to explore my grandmother’s antiques in the barn, listen to her stories about growing up there and truly enjoy the fresh NH air. So when it came time to pick a place to get married we had no reservations! The farm is such a special place for us. We are getting married on the inlet where I used to fish with my grandfather, siblings and cousins. The birch Chuppa is from birch trees found on the property. Jay and his dad built it together this summer. Jay’s mom even planted the garden by the ceremony. We are incorporating so many family “touches” through the day. The cake topper was my grandparents’, Pat and Carolyn from 1950! Old milk jugs, crocks and boxes all came from out “digging” through the barn. We found such great treasures when searching through the barn. My grandmother said some items had not been touched for 100 years! It’s so fun to re-purpose the gems we found on the property.
