Farm to Table Wedding from Adrienne Gunde

Some of our favorite weddings are those that exude a certain effortless beauty. It’s one thing to pull off a gorgeous wedding day but something entirely different to pull that day off with details that are elegant but simple, chic yet totally understated. I think this farm to table wedding has just that combo. And woven throughout are snapshots of a beautiful day from Adrienne Gunde along with garden blooms by Valley Flora and details fit for a really amazing dinner party but kicked up a few notches on the awesome scale by Amy Kaneko Events. From the Bride… Brian and I met the day before we started medical school though his roommate Mike (and soon to be one of our best friends!). We started hanging out and studying together which quickly transitioned to making meals then going on dates – we were soon inseparable. Five years later, he proposed when we went for a walk on the cliffs above Half Moon Bay. I was elated, and completely daunted as we were both starting our residencies one week later, he as a plastic surgery resident and me as an OBGYN resident.

We wanted our wedding to celebrate our friends and family, who we love so much but don’t get to spend nearly enough time with. We also wanted to take advantage of all the beauty California has to offer, given that we are lucky enough to be here. We had visions of it being outdoors in a beautiful setting, comfortable, but pretty with lots of good fun, games, laughter, candlelight and dancing. But given our crazy work schedules we knew we needed help. The best decision of our planning process was hiring Amy Kaneko of Amy Kaneko Events. Amy’s husband is also a resident, so she was completely sympathetic to our intense work schedules and quickly felt like a good friend, who also happened to be helping us plan our wedding! She helped us make all our details a reality, from cornhole and firepits with s’mores for Brian, to our “recipes for love” guest book and our gorgeous flower arrangements and centerpieces for me.

Our wedding day was everything we hoped for and more, the weather was perfect, the setting at Farmstead was magical. The whole event flowed beautifully and we just felt relaxed and happy the entire time. I have many favorite parts, but certainly the ceremony was one of the highlights. Our good friend Mike flew across the country from his residency in Boston to officiate our ceremony. Throughout the ceremony we had friends and family speak, each sharing a personal moment, that made us both laugh and cry. One of my best friends growing up sang, with the assistance of our awesome guitarist Andy Kong who learned several songs for us. We spent the rest of the night eating delicious food (we picked Farmstead for a reason!), sipping wine, laughing with friends and family, relaxing in the lounge area and dancing. We felt surrounded by love and happiness and had such an incredible time — we only wish it didn’t have to end!
