Irish Creek Farm Wedding from AMB Photo + Chic Wedding Planners

Is it weird that I kind of want to be this couple? Or at least come with them on all of their travels? Because they seem completely amazing, and from the looks of their wedding and how much their friends and family did to make their day a reality – I am pretty sure that’s the case. With the help of all their loved ones (her mom made 20 cakes!) and the talented Julie of Chic Wedding Planners, they created a day so pretty I could cry – and all the gorgeous images from AMBphoto are waiting for you right here.

From the Bride… Salim and I have been together for 7 years. We met while studying in Montreal, Canada and have since been making our relationship work over three continents. We have lived together in Canada, France, Syria, and are just packing our bags to move to Switzerland.

We first talked about getting married while hiking in the Alps, and first talked about a wedding when we were at my friend’s wedding at Irish Creek Farm two years before. We loved the laid back setting, the rolling Quebec countryside, and the 100-year old rustic barn. We could see ourselves there! As we started planning, we tried to avoid the idea that it was “our day.” We share many special days together as a twosome, but this day was going to be particularly special because of the important people in our lives who joined us from near and far to celebrate. Our friends and family came from all over the world – from Mali, Chile, Cuba, France, Switzerland, Spain, Qatar, Hong Kong, the United Arab Emirates, the US, and all over Canada! We wanted to honour them and their effort to get Lac Sainte Marie, and have an event where everyone was well taken care of and felt completely at ease.

Many people helped us with our wedding – my mother baked our 20 wedding cakes, made welcome packages of banana loaf and fresh fruit for all of our guests, picked the berries and made the jam for the favours, and even sewed all of the tablecloths. My talented sister sewed the buntings, and my father made historical family photo boards. We wanted a very kid-friendly wedding and so some of my teacher friends helped me put together loot bags for the 20 or so kids at our wedding, including a personalized bingo for the older kids, crayons and paper for the younger kids, bubbles, candied necklaces, and very popular and coveted glow stick necklaces. We also had a great vintage bingo wheel from Amy&Jen Rentals that we filled with gumballs, and a piñata filled with goodies that was a big hit.

We were delighted that our wedding weekend was indeed the joyful and relaxed event that we had envisioned. I think that the highlights for us were some of the most spontaneous parts of the night – an impromptu toast by an old friend, a Lebanese blessing by a cousin. And then the dance. The floor was always packed and I saw people breaking it down whom I never would have imagined on the dance floor! It will be forever etched in our memory as a charmed and magical weekend.
