Texas Ranch Wedding from Sarah Kate, Photographer + Elle Films

Late last night, when I first opened this gorgeous wedding from Sarah Kate Photography, I was reminded why I will always, always love weddings. Weddings like this one that truly make me stop and click through every gorgeous image in their gallery because I feel like I am missing out if I don’t. Missing out on the perfectly ranch chic fête planned by Jordan Payne Events, the perfect florals from Jordan Payne Events or the delicious (in every sense of the word) cake from Sugar Bee Sweets. But it’s the little moments in between all that pretty that really tug at my heart strings, and you can see them all right here.

And you definitely don’t want to miss this sweet film from Elle Films

From the Bride… Katie and Chris met in July of 2005 on the open sea. While cruising with their families, they happened to book the same snorkeling excursion. They immediately hit it off and hung out the rest of the cruise, playing dodge ball, basketball, card games, rock-climbing and exploring. Despite Katie attending school in Fort Worth, and Chris in Lynchburg, Virginia, the friends stayed in touch for years. Not long after they had both graduated, they decided to take their relationship to the next level. Chris had moved to Seattle and Katie back to Dallas. Their long-distance relationship continued a little over a year before Katie decided to move to Seattle, and the rest is history.

In February 2012, Katie, Chris and some family escaped the cold north and said Aloha! Little did Katie know, months before, Chris had traveled to Dallas to ask Katie’s parents permission to marry their daughter. Of course, they said yes, and Chris designed the most beautiful ring, made by a local jeweler. Once in Hawaii, the couple woke up early one morning for a run, but Chris had something else planned. He suggested they go to the beach to watch the sun rise and take some pictures. While having fun with the self-timed camera, Katie went to go find a fun prop; Chris already had his. When Katie returned, Chris was on one knee with the beautiful ring and asked her to marry him. She was so excited she screamed and accidentally threw her “prop” stick at Chris. He survived the attack just in time to hear Katie say “YES”.

The overall theme and design for the evening was ranch chic, incorporating Katie’s love for color, the outdoors, the succulents and sunflowers. As Katie and Chris both love nature, and it is a big part of their lives in Seattle, natural elements were incorporated into the decorations, while still providing an overall romantic and feminine touch. The wedding was held at Katie’s family ranch about an hour outside of Dallas.

The groom, a self-proclaimed baby face asked his groomsmen to grow beards as soon as he and Katie got engaged. For 9 months these men diligently fostered quite a showing of facial hair just for the wedding. They shaved during the reception and then presented a “gift” of their shavings to the groom!
