Outdoor Wedding in Calgary from Nicole Sarah Photography

Canadian weddings are awesome for a lot of reasons.  They’re crazy beautiful, they’re always, always chock-full of personality and no matter the locale (whether it be the breathtaking mountains, the stunning seaside or an amazing urban oasis), they’re pretty much perfect in every which way.  Yes, it goes without saying… you Canadians really know how to throw a wedding.  And this darling Calgary affair captured by Nicole Sarah Photography?  Well, it’s a lesson in all of the above with moment after moment of pure, unadulterated beauty.  See it all in the full gallery.

From the Bride… Shaun and I met in college, and after four years of dating, he romantically proposed during a trip to Saint Lucia! Cue the wedding planning!

Our Wedding Day began early. Many of our friends and family members had stayed at the hotel with us. The men of the wedding party went to set up the chairs at Baker Park while the ladies started the long (and fun!) process of hair, makeup and dressing!  When I arrived at Baker Park the guests were all huddled in the beautiful mist under their umbrellas! It was an unusually cold and rainy day for August. Once everyone was seated, the rain and mist stopped – the entire ceremony was free of rain! We were serenaded by a wonderful harpist as I tearfully, yet excitedly walked down the aisle. It was an intimate civil ceremony on the banks of the Bow River, and was incredibly special to both of us.

Now that everyone was headed back to the hotel to warm up, it was time for photos. We couldn’t have asked for a more organized and talented photographer! We popped a bottle of champagne to keep warm in the forest-like park setting! Our photos were what we like to call “Urban Woodland”. Calgary features many, picturesque and cozy forest-like settings. To show our love of our city, and highlight our cozy reception venue (The Amsterdam Rhino Pub) we had additional photos in an urban setting as well!

As guests and the wedding party arrived at our cozy, dimly-lit reception venue, they were greeted with a glass of champagne to loosen up. The evening and night continued with a fantastic plated meal, speeches and of course, dancing! We couldn’t have asked for a better group of friends, family and vendors to share our special day with. It was perfect!
