Whenever citrus hues find their way into wedding details, the result is a lovely mix of fresh and colorful. Take the prettiest corals, orange and yellows, for instance, that are shining through in everything from these florals at the hands of Brown Paper Designs, to the details crafted by Green Ribbon Party Planning Co. And paired with a ceremony draped in balloons and the prettiest vintage vignettes from Found Vintage Rentals, it makes for some really amazing photographs. But don’t take my word for it. From Nicole Arena of The Green Ribbon Party Planning Co… When I met Timaree and William I knew they were going to have a great wedding. Timaree had definite ideas about what she liked and wanted to see at her wedding – fun citrus colors, polka dots and balloons! William and Timaree wanted a wedding that wasn’t too formal or stuffy. They really wanted their friends and family to enjoy the relaxed feel of Southern California and they had selected the Cottage and Pavilion at Calamigos Ranch, which was the perfect spot to give them what they were after.
With the venue selected, we went to work on assembling a fantastic teams of vendors to make their vision come to life. Posh Paperie designed the entire suite of paper goods – from the letterpressed kraft paper invites to the fun fan programs and menus. Created in poppy citrus colors, we worked with a calligrapher to create escort card tags that we attached to mini lemonade bottles for guests to enjoy during cocktails. Brown Paper Design did an amazing job on the flowers; there was no area left untouched by their magic! We brought in a hedge to cover the back wall of the pavilion, which really added a natural beauty to the entire space. They completely styled all of the tables with brightly colored flowers featuring peonies and feverfew. The head table was particularly stunning with milk glass vases, running down the center of the tables, set atop vintage doilies acting as a runner.
The table linens were from La Tavola with tulle overlays made by the bride’s mother Julie. They created this diaphanous feeling to the table tops, which echoed the draping of the tent. Julie also made a fantastic quilt that was used as the couple’s guestbook. Found Vintage rentals provided two great tables, which were used as the head table, plus various pieces of lounge furniture for the lawn area. I think it really made the area feel fun and relaxed. Guests enjoyed the lemonade station that was set-up on a vintage vanity and grabbed sodas from the baby bath tub. As a nod to Timaree and William’s save the date, which featured a bicycle, we even had a sweet one set up as guests headed over to the cocktail area, with a basket full of pretty blooms of course!
This wedding was full of sweet touches and surprises, both the bride and groom arranged for something special at the wedding to honor one another. Timaree hired Joe’s Ices (a local place the couple often frequented) to come and serve Italian ices as a late-night snack for guests. Meanwhile, William had Sweet and Saucy make an adorable penguin cake as a bride’s cake, which was brought out after they cut the wedding cake. The sweets table was a focal point of the room, with all of the delicious desserts made by Sweet and Saucy, placed under a hanging vintage heart from Found Vintage Rentals.
Dancing was really important to the couple, I had heard from multiple sources that Timaree and William were often the last two to leave the dance floor. With that in mind, they selected the band Masta from DeBois Entertainment. The band had the crowd on their feet the entire night. Timaree and William shared their first dance to You are the Best Thing by Ray LaMontagne and it was seriously one of the most spirited and playful first dances I have ever seen! This wedding was one of my favorites because of all of the fantastic details, from a balloon release after the I-Do’s, to the grand exit in a vintage Oldsmobile convertible from 1956! Katie Vowels for Annie McElwain did an aswesome job of shooting every last detail and Max and Molly created a beautiful video for the couple.
