This wedding is pure awesome; a crème de la crème of pretty set against the always-amazing NYC. And even more than all of the drop-dead gorgeous details (and there are a lot of them) and DIY goodness, it’s the kind of day that just feels cozy… the sort of affair that you can’t wait to attend, and always dreamt of having. Sera & Sean planned their NYC wedding from their home in Singapore. They were engaged during a hike in the hills of Hong Kong overlooking the South China Sea so when it came to their wedding they chose an equally magical place – the city they met and fell in love in – New York!
The challenge of planning a wedding from the other side of the world was made easier with the help of Ryder Sloan Events. Sera did what she could from Singapore, designing the invitations, programs and escort cards herself and sourcing local printers in Singapore. Her mother made her veil and the day before the wedding her family and bridal party banded together to create deep red centerpieces of peonies, astilbe and eucalyptus. All done on the floor of their Bowery Hotel suite. Sera’s mother studied flower arranging for months leading up to the wedding and created the immaculate bouquets and boutonnieres herself.
They married on an unseasonably warm November day, which allowed the couple and bridal party to do a fair bit of walking around Nolita, home of their venue, Michelin awarded Public Restaurant. It’s an intimate space with moody lighting, rich wood floors, exposed brick and a glass wall showcasing their wine collection.
After an incredible meal that included roast New Zealand venison loin, and pan-seared Tasmanian sea trout, and a serious of hilarious toasts, Sera & Sean dressed in traditional gowns for the Korean ceremony portion of the evening. Parents and family members took turns tossing nuts to the wedded couple to symbolize fertility. If the amount they caught is any indication, they can expect an overwhelming amount of children!
A festive photo booth by Jenny Jimenez and DJ Colleen from Sugartown Industries kept the party rolling and feet on the dance floor late into the night, including the obligatory Gangnam style get down!
