Scouring through gorgeous details day in and day out is a pretty amazing gig; one that I thank my lucky stars for each and every day. Because, let’s face it, putting in a hard day’s work becomes decidedly less “hard” and far more “fun” when pretty, pretty inspiration is involved, especially in the form of a more than stunning photo shoot chock-full of romance and French-inspired details from the talented team of Sonia Bourdon, Autumn Wood and La Mariee Boheme (among many others). It’s the kind of shoot that captures your heart from the very first image… and never lets go. Fall in love right here.
From Autumn Wood… I recently did a photo-shoot in Montreal and I thought I would share it with you. Our theme was Vintage French Romance and was held at the luxurious and historic Casa Bianca B&B, a turn-of-the-century home designed and built by one of Montreal’s earlier developers. My inspiration came not only from classic beauties like Jean Kelly and Audrey Hepburn, but also the feeling I had as a little girl digging through my grandmother’s photos in a shoe box at the top of her closet. We wanted to create a wedding that evoked not only a sense of nostalgia for the beauty our grandmothers had on their wedding day, but also to create something that taps into that delicate femininity we all long for. Delicate, nostalgic and ultra feminine… what girl doesn’t dream of wearing an airy, intricate golden crown on her wedding day or sigh at the sight of a blush pink wedding ring? Our vintage aesthetic was also reflected in our colour palette with gilded, soft botanical hues in blush, peach, cream, mint, gold and antique robin’s egg blue. We focused on incorporating hand-made vintage details, from a blush pink antique sofa to handmade book-paper place cards and vintage china. Several local designers were featured, such as Jivan Collections and his custom designed rose-gold wedding ring, DiCarlo Couture’s stunning wedding gown, Letters to Jane’s hand-made, gilded, floral wedding crown, and Mademoiselle Artsy’s beautiful brooch bouquets.
