We all know that NYC engagement sessions are amazing. That’s a tried and true fact that just can’t be argued with. But when you combine the excitement and ambience of The Big Apple with a darling twosome that knows a thing or two about fabulous NYC locales (yummy cupcakes and tacos included), it ups the pretty by about one thousand percent. Throw in the ever-talented Ned Jackson and a gallery of his amazing images to the mix and you’ve got the perfect way to spend a Thursday morning. See it all right here.
From Ned Jackson Photography… As a Boston based photographer I was so excited at the chance to photograph in a new city and I had some excellent tour guides! We shot for about three or four hours throughout NYC and had a blast!
From the Groom… We started off at Tacombi, a rustic taco shop in SoHo that’s a favorite eatery of ours. Given that I am from San Diego, we thought it would be fun to incorporate a backdrop that speaks to my roots. Plus the food is really good! Our next stop was at Molly’s Cupcakes, a dessert shop that is near and dear to Sunny’s heart. In a city full of great cupcakes, Molly’s is our clear favorite, both for the food and the ambiance – there’s a great selection of board games you can play while you eat. When we asked about shooting in the store, they were so happy and surprised that we would even think to do our engagement photos there that they offered to let us decorate our own cupcakes. Next, we headed to Washington Square Park. Sunny and I both went to NYU for undergrad, so the park is a special place for us. It was the center of our lives for the first several years we lived in New York. We didn’t meet until after we had graduated, but it was through mutual college friends, so it’s fair to say that without NYU, we probably wouldn’t have found one another. Our last stop was the Meat Packing District. Neither of us has any real emotional ties to this neighborhood, but it’s one of the most visually interesting parts of the City thanks to the mix of gritty industrial buildings and historic cobblestone streets.
