From mStarr event styling + designLindsey + Shannon came to me about 6 months before their wedding knowing they wanted a killer party and for it to be beautiful. And while they did have a vision, they weren’t quite sure how to bring it all to life. the girls were completely trusting + open to ideas so I set out to craft the day with a {slight} ode to f. scott fitzgerald, a bit of whimsy and a whole lot of pretty. bringing in crazy talented floral designer becca of petal floral design, we wove in soft, romantic flowers + greenery throughout the space, and she created the most gorgeous fireplace masterpiece that really anchored the reception space. Since it was April and couldn’t have the reception outside, I wanted to bring an outdoor garden party inside willowdale’s grand mansion. think soft tulle overlays over crisp white linens, a seating chart + menu on mirrors with romantic calligraphy from cara at dear rose, liquor in elegant decanters, and commissioned grey stained farm tables from new england country rentals for our head table. just to name a few of my fave details! The added bonus was getting a 70 degree, sunny day that was perfect for an outdoor ceremony in willowdale’s open courtyard. designing lindsey + shannon’s big day was pretty perfect in every way and megan perfectly captured it all…the candids, the details, the emotion. p.s. willowdale’s team is amazing!

From Shannon… When I met Lindsey during our first year of law school, I knew I found a great friend. We always had such a fun time together that it quickly became apparent my best friend was really my soul mate. Just a few months shy of our 5-year anniversary, I surprised Lindsey with a vintage-inspired engagement ring at the edge of Lake Champlain in Burlington, VT. I had planned this weekend getaway for months and wanted everything to go perfectly, so I was happy to know that she was surprised and thankful that she said, Yes!

So began our wedding planning adventure. To fulfill the fun and glamorous 1920’s cocktail party theme we imagined we enlisted Emily of mStarr Event Styling and Design to make our grand vision a reality. She transformed our venue into a warm and inviting yet dazzling space which featured framed photographs of our grandparents, a custom guestbook created by the amazing Megan Dandeles, a striking array of flowers thanks to Becca, and an ornate mirror that served as a seating chart. Guests were welcomed with a glass of champagne before being brought out to the courtyard patio which was bathed in sun, and we exchanged vows under a gorgeous birch chuppah. One of our closest friends officiated the funny and memorable ceremony, which ended with our personalized wedding vows.

Each table setting displayed vintage silverware from New England Country Rentals and napkins wrapped in twine with a quote from “The Great Gatsby.” Guests enjoyed a farm-to-table fare but could barely finish dinner before our DJ, Seth from Beat Train Productions, got the party started! As a break from the action, guests could grab a handful of champagne gummy bears, custom M+Ms, Heath Bars (my personal favorite), and more at the vintage candy bar, or step outside with a freshly rolled cigar from Boston Cigar Factory. As a late night snack, Cuban sliders and beignets were passed to the crowd, giving guests a boost for the last hour of partying.

Our wedding was absolutely perfect and easily one of the most fun days of our lives. I remember starting the planning process with such anxiety about all that could go wrong. Yet, when the day arrived and I finally saw Lindsey and then all of our guests, I realized nothing could go wrong because I was marrying my best friend and soul mate and sharing it with the people who love us most.
